  Sir, presently, the minimum wage in Ghana is 21.77 GHS per DAY (8 h of work)! Therefore, 15000.00 GHS a month at least should make someone a little bit comfortable in Ghana; his government at that time had a minimum wage of 18.15 GHS per DAY in 2024. Yeah, he might have been making less than a thousand pounds like you said but compared to the average person on the streets (whose life the politicians are supposed to be in the business of helping to improve), he should live like a king! Unless a politician is a glutton or feeding every member of his family, his grocery bill should not be >7000 GHS a month. But the fact of the matter is, when our people get into office, because they know that they are not going to improve the life of the people by making any laws that will benefit them, their goals essentially are to build a mansion and amass wealth any how they can! Maybe you are comparing Ghana to England; the politicians in England might work for their people because that way, they might get re-elected. Ours do not work for the people.
  
  They are not a alone. Our police, government officials (civil servant), lawyers and judges do not serve our people. They only work to create DYSFUNCTION in the system in order to FLEECE the average person through bribery and corruption! This makes you pay lots of money as bribe to get routine services like renewal of drivers license, road worthiness certificate for a vehicle (even though most of our roads are not even vehicle worthy) etc. By the way, most of the people are not innocent either; they are doing little 'damages of their own' to the system.

When you are sick, you are flown overseas for first class treatment in first class hospitals overseas. Other unseen perks not know by the public. The salary of a Minister is just pocket money he hardly uses. How many public officers in Ghana were getting that salary at that time?
