In the UK PhD studies (under Ghana govt. Scholarship) sounds like a very lucrative profession; only the almighty knows how long and genuine some of these studies and enrolments has been and will be taking!!!

We shouldn't be spending our educational funds on sponsoring research in other countries when we barely have enough for research work in our own universities.

Not only PhD students. I know of post graduate student pursuing a one year master's programme who has to drop out because of no payment of tuition fees by the Ghana govt. The uni terminated her studies as due to non payment. ...

The uni terminated her studies as due to non payment. I heard the the unis have decided rhet they will only accept future govt sponsored students only when they receive full upfront payment of tuition fees. This does sit well with Ghana and is quite frankly embarrassing..

The truth is most of these so called PhD students are people who either got there through influence peddling or paid to get there, not by fair competition. Repeatedly putting this story in Ghanweb isn't going to change anything. The government has more pressing priorities and paying for undeserving PhD student isn't on top of their agenda
