That is not to say that Morocco didn't deserve their win as they were the better side over 120minutes of Regulation and extra time of football, even though it ended 0-0. Morocco were also better in the shootout and deserve the win.

However even European football analyst stated in Evening Stardard and "Sportmole.co.uk" that there was "questionable refereeing" that favoured Morroco against Nigeria, including the "harsh" yellow carding of Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey who they agreed never committed a foul let alone deserving of unjustified yellow card.
