  Thank you Dr Thompson for your submissions. In fact, the bane of the democratic backsliding that francophone countries have experienced so far is partly the result of their extended seven year presidential terms. Such a long period makes elections a do or die- if by any means necessary one manages to get in, that it longer period to rule. Come the next cycle, they put in structures to continue- take the case of ivory coast, Togo, Benin , Rwanda etc. the proposed seven year is a disaster in the making for our democracy
