I remember when Yekini wept after his goal against Ghana in 1992 Afcon in Senegal was equalised by Abedi Pele and Prince Polley scored the winning goal for Ghana.

Not true. Yekini didn't score in the 1992 Afcon semi final match with Nigeria. It was their young midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju, that headed the opening goal. Abedi equalised 1-1 and Prince Polly scored the wining goal 2-1 it ended, but Abedi Pele was carded and suspended for the Final with Ivory Coast, which made Abedi cry at the end of that semi-final- Yekini did not cry, it was Abedi that cried because he was going to miss the final which Ghana had qualified after beating Nigeria. Ivory Coast won 11-10 on extended penalty shoot-out to lift the Afcon cup in 1992.
If Abedi had played in that final, Ghana would have won that Afcon 1992 trophy within regulation time, without the game going to penalty shoot out.

Yekini was a great footballer; I remember those days in secondary when we're told Yekini was a Ghanaian and his father from Denu in the Volta region.
