  This is not a bad idea, but then it is important we link it to performance. A president cannot just come into power, perform abysmally (like the previous government), leave the citizens in misery and anguish and still expect to walk away with freebies.
  An indicator like the general performance of the economy, including inflation, performance of the local currency and the likes should all be taken into consideration. How were they faring before you took power. Have they improved? Remained the same?Worsened? And there shall be no excuses like Russia/Ukraine war or covit19. You opted to lead the country, there wasn't any duress on you to do so, so you can't turn around to give us excuses.
  A good call, but should be linked to performance.

An office space with a secretary, and a retirement pension. The ex gratia should be scraped and definitely no free housing/accommodation. No one gives a house to a doctor, school teachers and other public servants so why the President? It is high time we stop putting our leaders on a pedestal. The United States which is the richest and one of the most powerful nation on earth do not give free accommodation to their ex-Presidents so why Ghana?

  My super hero Joyce, l agree with you on most of what you have mentioned. But where l choose to differ is for instance why show the tax payers foot the cost of another house for Nana akuffo addo in accra when our money via taxes have been spent on furnishing his fathers house, decorating it, providing upgraded security modifications , airconditioners removed all his fathers vintage bed and furniture and replaced them all with state of the art furnishings. To again provide another house for him in accra. Why. Why should we build him a new residence in kyebi when he has one there. As a president who run our country economically down like he was not just on cannibis , cocaine but all the combo on top of cannibis shatter. The most we can do for him is to upgrade his kyebi house at a minimal budget. He sold all his parents property portifolio for his craving to be a president. I suggest that instead of building each president who leads our nation 2 to 5 houses and office accommodation. The government should fund SSNIT to build presidential retirement homes in Accra plus regions where they come from. So those who had no homes that's proven can straight away move into these fully furnished homes that is secured and safe for them to live there in their retirement till they pass on. When their living spouses also pass on the property should be refurbished for the next retiring leader. Where there is a vacant property standing empty because there is no president ready to move in. Those properties can be used to host foreign guest visiting our country. And l advice all those building be of exactly same design else issues will come up. The houses already built for past president we know should be taken back into government asset pool. Akuffo had a house in accra but government built him his aburi home. That property if truly offered by the state show return to the state on his Passing. Why should tax payers build super president JDM a house in bole when he has already worked hard to build a house in bole. We can use tax payers money to improve his security at the place and pay he allowance to keep maintenance in top form. And past president who has benefited from tax payers funding 2,3,4 , 5 homes and office building should hand over those properties back to the state on their passing.and that of their wife. The office building should serve as their foundation offices on the passing of both spouses. The state shouldnt cover an office for spouses and past presidents of vice. They should both share an office building. These measures should continue till every school child has free chair, table , uniform, shoes and a classroom with windows and roofing. Plus a hospital that treats its citizens with pride, respect and dignity. . Not just because you lead our country you are about everyone else needs. Those who already have houses which most do can donate money for homes refurbishment etc into their foundation set up to support the people. Else if measures arent put in place the next coup in ghana will confiscated all these properties back into government portifilio. Let's all pray no issues give the need for a military coup. I saw rawlings 1979/1981 coup. It was horror. Still have scarring images in my mind. We dont want another coup. Someone l knew a lady was caught with cannibis and cocaine trying to take to uk. She was arrested at KIA. She was made to smoke all the cannibis she was trying to smuggle, sniff the coke till she couldn't anymore and the rest was history I don't want to open those pages that shaked the blood out of my head. But thankfull she survived it an became a new person, very successful and philantropic to so much good causes. Enough is enough of wasting tax payers money.
