If the UG VC is saying that the disputed charges were largely 3rd party fees approved by the UG student leadership rather than UG management imposed academic fees ...... the question is..... What authority does a student body (made of student representatives who pay tuition fees) have to 'approve' 3rd party fees to be paid by other students? The UG authorities, plausibly, initiated the fees and looped in the student leadership without having any consultations with the larger student body. They know there is a law enacted by parliament but tried to 'sneak' these so-called 3rd party charges in and now that they have been caught, the VC is blaming the student body. It is good Dr. Apaak is on top of this issue using the law - Fees and Charges Act - as a basis for intervention. Let us follow the law.

What is going on in Ghana? Free SHS and free first year tuition. Parents cannot pay the remaining fees for the children Tertiary education !!!!!. Are we not disciplined enough to save for these days of our children education? If that is the case Government must stop the free, free, free things and let citizens start paying for their children education. Why can't we meet Government halfway. It is not Government responsibility to take care of our kids !!!
