  Has it occurred to anyone that the new crappy exchange rates are responsible for this decrease? Exporters are going out of business whilst importers are clearing up! If those exporters (not gold, cocoa or oil) fail then when the oil price crashes along with the gold price and declining cocoa production where will government find the foreign exchange for those importers?

  I dont get this export fallout issue with cedi appreciation. When the cedi collapsed in 2022, where was the proceeds of export to support the economy. Within 6 months in 2022 the cedi fell from 1/6 to 1/17 to the dollar. How did the cedi increase in export proceeds not neutralise the unprecedented hardship in the past 4 years. Which people are exporting? Do the export proceeds actually come back to Ghana.

  What a funny BoG governor! You can't eat your cake and still have it. If the cedi was stronger due to prudent economic management you wouldn't worry about foreign remittances. This exposes the deep flaw in the cedi management some of us have been echoing right from the beginning of this doped cedi appreciation. Cedi appreciation is good only if it's done the proper way. The top-bottom approach will never work well. Bottom-up approach is the way to go. Until BoG stops pumping money and address the 'Elephant in the house" they will continue chasing remittances in vain.

Ai, robotics and technology are taking over most jobs, this is impacting layoffs and firings, shareholder returns n very soon most citizens will be getting a monthly living allowance from the government. As a result of all.these you can see why remittances from the west will drop. This is the time for gh leaders to employ HONEST public service officials n ministers to be serious about investing in infrastructure, building the country. you CAN NOT BUULD A BETTER GHANA WITH THIEVES AND DISHONEST PEOPLE

  If these inflows are 'vital' then why regularly pump money into the forex market to 'stabilise the Cedi'? If the Cedi were allowed to float then exports could bring in the forex (they do little now because the exchange rate is false and uneconomic) and remittances would increase again. This fantasy of a ten Cedi dollar is kept alive only by continually intervention of the BoG and is not sustainable in the long term or even the medium term. Currently the Ggana economy has shifted to cheap imports and declining exports from traditional markets.
