NDC seem complacent when it comes to the 2028 general elections. But is likely to shock them to the marrow if they fail to do critical analysis.
Is early days for the party and we begin to hear very unprinted words being used to address fellow party members. Now what happens if President Mahama exists after this current term and they are to hold primaries, then one can expect to hear more disgusting words being used to address fellow party members, then massive cracks will begin to develop within the party, wide divisions start to emerge, then a total crash of the party (no party can win an election with a divided front), and what happens next, NPP takes advantage.
I heard Mr. Pratt say the other time that giving President Mahama a third term becomes a bonanza for the NPP, is the direct converse, if you ask me.
So my advice to the NDC is that, if they want an easy walk through, they should start looking for ways and means to enable President Mahama have a third term, so that in the next elections(either 2032 or 2033) they can be on a level ground (call it 50:50) with the NPP, it they(NPP) have any chances of winning it.

Akuffo Addo had a majority in parliament and regardless of his abysmal performance, he could also have requested to go for a third term with the approval of his majority. The NDC should not set a precedent because they will not be in power for ever and if and whenever the NPP comes to power with a majority in parliament, they can also request a third term and they will have a valid point . Mahama has a crop of astute politicians in his party and some of them could be groomed to take the mantle from him . Extending his term may lead to unforeseen political consequences. He should leave a legacy that will come next to that of Nkrumah.
