Where in the Ghana constitution do you see each criminal act listed? Can you point readers to a list in the Ghana Constitution that says what it takes to be a Ghanaian citizen? It is precisely because there is constitutional ambiguity of what documents can be used to show Ghanaian citizenship that enabled former CJ Gertrude Torkornoo to make a fool of herself in her attempt to create one. And when she did create one, that became the standard by which Ghanaian citizenship was judged.

It is these types of precedent and judicial deference accorded the justices on the Supreme Court and Council of States that gives them authority to make decisions on issues that the Ghana Constitution does not stipulate or innumerate.
