What is so special about 31st December, a regular day, that all manner of people troop to the churches? Even the people who brought the religion to you hold parties and Jamboree just to welcome the new year. What has a new year got to do with Christianity? And worst of all, our traditional gifts of goats and sheep and fowls and cassava and plantain and other vegetables which boost our economy around the end of year have been replaced by hampers containing useless European edibles like pickles and springles and wines and biscuits and tea and kidney beans and other candies and condiments which hurt our economies and boost theirs.
