Slavery self we are always accusing the White man for, do we first accuse our forefathers for the act?
I believe things of the past should remain there and what we must think about is how Black man will make his life better. Today, don't we die in the sea or desert just to look for better pastures right at the place we are accusing the people for causing genocide?

Reparations? Who exactly are those required to pay up? Does it include the Arabs for their gargantuan role in the slave trade? Can you imagine the Arabs paying cash today as reparation for slavery that took place centuries ago? Somebody please tell Okudzeto Ablakwa to cut out the shenanigans and stop wasting our ears with much ado about nothing!! Slavery in the past was indeed reprehensible, but moreso is this modern day surge to profit from the ordeals of our forefathers. What I believe is that nobody is ever going to pay a dime to nobody for the canker of slavery, which as we speak is still ongoing under various shades within our very own countries. Talk of wages of Nabco trainees and Zoomlion street sweepers, are both classic examples of modern day slavery.

I still wonder what we want out of this reparation move. Is it an apology or.money? Then from who - The whites who took is away, or our chiefs who kidnapped us and sold us to the whites for schnapps and gunpowder? Then to whom does the apologies or money go? To the black Americans who were uprooted from the "motherland" and got their lives messed up, or those of us left behind hustling daily to go there? Or to our governments who will find it another cheap source of money to squander only to go back to the "slave masters" for more later?

Akufo Addo's own ancestor was exiled by the British to Lagos in the 1880s becuase of slavery.
Even when the British abolished tge slave trade and human sacrifice in the 1830s in Gold Coast, our / my own greedy Ashsnti Kings who depended on slave raiding and trading were still at it until useless and utterly hopeless Prempeh 1 got his comeuppance in 1896.
Obrempong Kwadwo, the father of Philip Quarcoe was generously paid as a slave trader by the Brits. 7 pounds every two weeks in the 1700s was huge spamount.
Our/my own dreadful Ashanti Kings were also handsomely paid by their Dutch slave trafing partners.
Madam Tinubu, ignored the ban on slavery by the Brits and dealt illegally with the Americans, Brazilians,Portuguese etc.
Are their descendants such as Asantehene Tinubu's, Akufo Addo's ,Ofori Atta's etc liable for the sins of their ancestors too? The records are there.

Reparatory justice will be meaningless unless African nations that actively engaged in the sale of their citizens to European slave traders are also held accountable for their involvement in that evil treatment of humans. But for the agreement to sell off their sell their citizens to European slave merchants, there certainly would have been the forced transportation of Africans to the Americas and elsewhere. You can't sell your citizens top European slave merchants and suddenly begin to talk about reparatory justice for African nations. The only ones entitled to reparatory justice would be the descendants of slaves in the Americas, Europe, and the Caribbean nations. African nations were complicit in that evil trade and should have no business demanding reparatory justice for any African nation.

If it is not reparation then it is membership in the United Nations Security Council. None will materialize because we are powerless as a race. So long as we continue to exist as small independent so called countries Africa will never have a voice on the global stage. We can not resolve our own conflicts and we want to be a member of the Security Council to resolve global conflicts. The African Union is there but the Presidents of Rwanda and DRC Congo had to travel to Donald Trump in the United States to sign a peace treaty. What a shame to the African continent. Honestly, we have a long way to go as people.

Reparations for Trans Atlantic Slave Trade being pursued by Okudzeto Ablakwa and Mahama does not make economic sense. The government of Ghana received 4.2 Billion dollars of debt cancellation in 2006 from Western governments and multilateral agencies. From 2000 to 2024, over this 25 year period, the government of Ghana received about 12 Billion Dollars worth of grants from Western countries. Further, under the 2023 2024 debt rescheduling programme almost 4 Billion dollars of government debts were forgiven to pave the way for Ghana to recover financially after the near economic collapse of the economy in 2022. So the government of Ghana got 20 Billion dollars free money since the beginning of this Century. How has this free money helped vulnerable people in Ghana including members of small tribes whose descendants were sold as slaves to Western countries? The national income inequality as measured by the Gini coefficient for Ghana increased sharply from 1998 to 2025. Now that the economy is gradually recovering due to the Debt Exchange Programme, the new Government of Ghana is pursuing this Reparation Programme to try and get cheap money from Western countries to enrich State officials and elites without any programme for helping the descendants of Africans who were sold into slavery by bigger and more powerful groups. This was the same trick used by the previous government starting in 2017 under the programme Ghana Beyond Aid. Five years after the initiation of this programme, Ghana was bankrupt and rushed to IMF for a bailout in 2022.
