MASSA MENTION THE NAMES OF THOSE PRIVATE BUSINESS ENTITIES THAT BENEFITTED AND STOPPED BEATING ABOUT THE BUSH. SO THAT THOSE FOUND CULPABLE INCLUDING THE ABSCONDED FINANCE MINISTER AND HIS UNCLE DWARF AKUFFO ADDO SHOULD BE PROSECUTED. THIS CRIMINAL ACTS CANNOT BE SWEPT UNDER THE CARPET. CULPRITS MUST BE PUNISHED TO SERVE AS A DETERRENT. OTHERWISE ANOTHER GOVERNMENT COMES AND WILL ALSO PRIVATIZE PART OF JUBILEE HOUSE, THE GHANA ARM FORCES ETC. OUR INSTITUTION ARE TOO TOO WEAK IN PROSECUTING CASES. LOOL AT HOW LONG IT'S TAKING TO BRING THE FORMER FINANCE MINISTER TO JUSTICE, NOT TO MENTION GIFTY OWARE AND HIS BOSS. INDEED GHANA IS A CRIME SCENE......GAGARTUAN CRIMES THAT HAVE OVERWHELMED OSP AND AG....THEY ARE STRUGGLING TO HOLD THE CENTER OF THIS CRIMES BUT IT'S NOT HOLDING.

@ Mr. Maestro. My friend, you have a rural illiterates understanding of what capitalism really is. Open your eyes a bit wider and look around the world and make an educated analogy of the worlds economic order. Capitalism is nothing more than a synonym for glamorized corruption and thievery - an evolution from the evils of feudalism, slavery and colonialism. Have you noticed how the more the eyes of the vulnerable resource-rich countries of the world open and they take more control over their resources, the more the fortunes of the so-called rich Western capitalist countries and societies, nose dive deeper into gloom and despair? Surely, it cannot be mere coincidence, can it?

SIC cannot compete in an open market. They just sit and relax and automatically get government business to survive. Other insurance companies are coming into Ghana so if you are competitive why dont you go to Togo etc.

If my education serves me right, SIC was established by Kwame Nkrumah primarily to service the insurance needs of the then emerging state enterprises. At the time, there was no real business in insurance as the market was infinitessimally small. SIC then had the prerogative to fish further afield if the need arose. Today, all insurance companies in this country - including the SIC, can do much better than they are doing but when an incompetent greedy short-sighted govt employs skulduggery capitalist means to deprive the SIC of its turf clients, the more responsible govt in power today, owes it as a duty to redress the situation in the overall interest of the people of Ghana and the state. That is all there is to it. Period.
I however think that as a state enterprise, SIC has a moral obligation to drastically cut the mind-boggling salaries and benefits of its senior staff as well as the public premium payments for car insurance. I, for instance, have been paying car insurance for donkey years without any returns, and each year the premium goes up to the extent that, I now have to struggle to gather pesewas and Cedis together to enable me renew my annual insurance. Why can't the SIC at the very least establish a scheme where it gifts its clients who have not had any accidents, with increasing premium rebates as the years roll on? I also believe that the SIC can universally reduce their car insurance premiums by at least a third, make their services more attractive and thus monopolize the entire market and quadruple their profits.

Is the government trying to collapse the private insurance sector? Or are the authorities targeting specific companies? How can we grow private enterprise if government seizes the business of successful companies and hands them over to a competing state owned enterprise? Has the NDC considered that the “success” they are seeing is most likely due to long term strategies the NPP put in place?
I fear that this returning to business as usual will set back any progress made and will come to light in the 3rd or 4th year of the NDC.
So that a new government coming in will be back to inheriting the messed up system as Presidents Kuffuor and Akufo Addo did in the past.
