Donald Trump would never have become president if humility and gentleness were the main criteria. Everyone in America knows he can be boastful, impolite, and even abrasive. He has made some very unsavoury remarks. Yet voters looked beyond those personal flaws, focused on what he was capable of doing for the country, and elected him. There’s a lesson in that for us.
