Even in Communist North Korea and China, Restaurants are not forced to use any specified meat to prepare their meals for sale. Ghana is Democratic and we are not forced to eat anything. Let such meat be used to prepare food for Prisoners and Government Assisted Boarding and Lodging schools. If I have my hard earned money, I cannot be forced to buy locally bred Chicken for my food. Let people use their hard earned money to buy the kind of food that they want. Forcing people to pay for, and eat what they don’t want or like will not succeed. What about if many Ghanaians decide to be non Chicken Eaters? Dumelo let the Government try to force Anlo Ewes to have their restaurants prepare their food with locally bred Chicken and see if that can succeed.

WE LIVE IN A COMMERCIAL WORLD OF COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE. IF GHANA'S CHICKENS WERE COMPETITIVELY GOOD ENOUGH IN QUALITY AND PRICE AND DELIVERED AS AND WHEN NEEDED, GHANAIAN AND FOREIGN RESTAURANT/HOTEL PATRONS WILL NEVER EAT IMPORTED CHICKEN
CONSUMPTION OF EVERY PRODUCT OR SERVICE IS DEPENDENT ON QUALITY, TASTE AND PRICE, PERIOD.
GHANA'S CHICKEN IS AS TOUGH AND TASTELESS AS GHANAIAN WOMEN'S "DOWN UNDER". .

Good idea. But how about the cost? Will government subsidize the hotels and restaurants? Also, safety and quality assurance?

What's better than a freshly killed chicken to one that has been frozen for years and filled with chemicals to preserve it. If it's local you can order it a day before use and it would taste better and wholesome.

I support that initiative 1000%.. let’s talk this step to support local farmers and also at least eat fresh chicken.
You can start with hotels and restaurants.. but let’s try and enforce on the general market with time.

Square pegs in round holes, with such people in government how do you expect Ghana to prosper? Are we under military government? It's so sad in Ghana people who have ideas are not in power while those in power have no ideas. Which economic class taught you that.
First, as a so-called minister, find out why the people prefer the imported products. What made imported chicken popular among Ghanaians? Is it cheap? Is it easily available? Is it healthy? and many more. Find solutions to all those questions before you make any suggestions. Stop using the lazy man's approach to problem solving.
Dumelo, if you don't know let me remind you we are in a democracy!
