  This "assist" thing is complete nonsense. Before a striker or any other player receives a pass (what is being called "assist") to score a goal, several other players on the striker's team touch/pass the ball arround. So why is the credit given to only the last person who gives the final pass (when he also receives a pass from another player)? In most cases, goalkeepers initiate the attacks, because they kick/throw the ball first to their players, to continue the attack. So why are goalkeepers' effort not considered in this "assist" business? In any case, every player on the field "assist" in goal scoring!
  Another thing is this "leading goal scorer" or "goal king" nonsense. A football team is made up of midfielders, defenders, the goalkeep and others. Most strikers cannot score goals, if defenders or midfielders don't pass them the ball. Why don't we see " leading defenders" or "leading defenders"?

  Erling Haaland is a prolific striker who must be fed. When the supply or feeding lines to Haaland are cut off or restricted he becomes more or less unproductive. However, our Semenyo is more of an offensive midfielder who feeds strikers and goalscorers, and also capable of feeding and scoring goals as well.

  Semenyo is far better than Haaland .. speed, ball control, placement, turning on defenders etc
