If Nana Addo had organised the regular cleaning and maintenance of the gutters, and public spaces, Accra COULD have been the cleanest city in Africa, without all the flooding.

Unfortunately, he was only good at talking, without action. Also, no cleanliness campaigns and no leadership by example. Sanitation Minister Mrs Cecilia Dapaah was also too busy counting cash.

Accra ended up 3 times dirtier than when he took office. 8 wasted years.

Somebody, tell John Mahama to shelve his grandiose expressway project for now. Accra and Kumasi are not the only cities/ towns in Ghana. There are a lot of places, municipalities, districts, towns and villages, and even places within Accra and Kumasi, that are either inaccessible or have very bad roads. Rather he should use that money to complete the dualization of the existing Accra - Kumasi highway, with many lanes and bypasses. Whatever money is left can be used to reconstruct existing bad roads and or construct new roads in the other municipalities, districts, towns and villages, to open up the entire country for development.

When a young person lives in a dilapidated family house, they often choose to leave and rent elsewhere, rather than renovating and adding value to the family property. It's puzzling why people build beautiful homes only to neglect them. Maintenance shouldn't be solely the government's responsibility; it's a collective issue that requires individual effort. We need to take ownership and work towards preserving our properties.
