Defence Ministry Suspends Officers Over Military Recruitment Stampede!
Hope is not the solution, but blaming the innocents serves as an escape goat. If the enrollment into the army is a nationwide program, then the exercises should be regional and @ the regional capital city, with dates for each region as well as prove the applicants are living in the region
If the army needs people to enroll in their service or military, then it is the military that has to go to the people in the regions, "not the people running to the military."
By doing this, it will save citizens from unnecessary accidents such as car, road, river, or bush accidents...

@ Rita, it is for a good reason that we don’t elect fools like you to govern us. Many of us expect our government (irrespective of the party they belong to), to act responsibly. The likelihood of this tragedy happening was so clearly written on the wall that even a blind man could read it! It was foreseeable and therefore totally preventable and unnecessary.
And don’t advertise your ignorance here. The Titanic was not a British government project. The vessel was built by a private company……the White Star Line.
Spare a thought for the poor families affected. Next time, it could be your family. And stop posting thoughtless nonsense here!

Why didn't the soldiers and the police position themselves among the spectators to prevent the ripping of the plastic chairs. Or they thought a hyped match between Kotoko and Hearts was a cocktail party. I did not blame Kuffour because I knew he was not God to envisage what will happen. BIG SHAME TO NDC AND THE GOVERNMENT. The families should sue the government for negligence for their failure to implement the e-recruitment which is done worldwide. If these young ladies haven't died, the government won't have introduced the e-recruiment. Shame on you. It was the same NDC and the government who insulted Dr. Bawumia for introducing digitilization instead of economic freedom.
Where are your IT professionals? Shame on you. In this technology age who practice paper recruitment? It is about time NDC learn to implement modern technology and deal away with outmoded ideas. Call on Mr. Digital Professor to teach you the modern technology. SHAME ON YOU, NDC. Why kill our future leaders? It is too late to apologize to the affected families.

Ghana military is a very disciplined body. It must not be made to appear sloppy. Announcing scape goats without details of their wrong places the entire Ghana Armed Forces in the line of fire. Let the facts be established. Did somebody push or whip them? Did somebody engage in allowing some to jump the queue? Was there a proper queue management system? Was any wrong done to create anxiety and agitation among the applicants. I don't like the word crowd, it connotes a disorderly process, not to be associated with a disciplined armed forces.

Is it a matter of having square pegs in round holes? The incident happened on Wednesday, investigations have not been completed and on Friday the interior minister was on TV making recommendations, how? If minister had those ideas, why wait for citizens to die before bringing out this "nice" ideas. Are we cursed as a nation? We always wait for bad things to happen before we pretend that we have new ideas. If anybody should be suspended it is the interior minister but not the military officers.
The first cause of the stampede is the government increasing the age limit from 30 to 40 years! Were they not getting applicants from the previous age limit? It unnecessarily increased the number of applicants so a lot of people who hitherto did not qualify even 9 years ago suddenly qualified? In a country like Ghana, the best was to have reduced the age limit instead because in the previous age limit, the numbers were still huge.
Why are Sam George and Dafeamekpor not speaking? I read their proposal for increasing the age limit last month on ModernGhana.com. I also read Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah's counter argument but of course the majority won and look at what has happened? Politicians must stop thinking about votes and start making policies that would benefit our generation and generation unborn!
