So nothing is done or plan to be done by importation. You can bring all the birds but if you do not stop frozen chicken and egg importation your so call nkokornkiti is waste of time. Burkina did that with no such thing and a lot of them are going into poultry. You don't wait to get of fix before putting measures. Necessity is the mother of invention. Common sense minister.

If Government assures poultry farmers of ready market for broilers, most of the farmers themselves can produce the birds. What government needs to do is to facilitate the construction of more chicken processing plants.

Mr Agric minister , you were not made the minister to be regurgitating the problem back to us! Solve it and stop telling us what the problem is!
In any case for once we have an agric budget that looks like we are now serious to solve the problem: a GH¢ 11billion budget, ( $1billion), unlike previously where our agric budget was enough to import only onion from Niger or tomatoes from Burkina Faso,! What can we do with a $100m or $200m budget for agric.. and all that we do was to be supplying free fertilizers and seedlings: no irrigation schemes,: no canals nor pipelines to draw water to farms, no rice Mills in growing areas, no combined harvesters for rice, / maize etc, no adequately storage facilities, no support for companies to process these into finished goods for export and local consumption etc etc to create jobs for our people etc .
Let the minister also be told that we least expect him to be talking about rain fed agric when we are endowed with abundant water bodies rights from our northern frontiers of our country to the southern most frontiers into the sea.. with accompanying tributaries across the entire spine of the country..
Without aggressive policy on developing irrigation systems we better forget any transformation in our agric sector! The obsessive dependence on rainfed agriculture must quickly give way to irrigation systems..and of course an aggressive value addition factories to complete the production systems and create countless jobs for our people..

It's shame for Agric minister to say that. It's the politicians doing the business of importing the chicken. What is the Agric Minister doing about it. 400 hundred million dollars importing chicken can make portrey farms in Ghana to feed Ghanaians. The government can build many big portrey farms in Ghana to feed Ghanaians. We have the land and the people to do that. It's very sad that the politicians in Ghana are leading Ghanaians in astray. We can do it if we get good leader to do the right thing's.
