Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has stated that the John Dramani Mahama administration is committed to completing 10 Agenda 111 hospital projects initiated by the previous government.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament during the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement on November 13, 2025, the minister reiterated that the Mahama administration is dedicated to finishing most of the outstanding projects left behind by the Akufo-Addo administration.

According to him, the NDC government will complete the 10 abandoned hospitals in 2026.

“... Also, in 2026, the government will complete ten (10) of the abandoned Agenda 111 hospital projects. This approach demonstrates our resolve not only to build new facilities but to complete existing ones efficiently and responsibly,” he said.

The Finance Minister further noted that, aside from the Agenda 111 hospitals, the government would also ensure the completion of five other outstanding healthcare facilities, including the La General Hospital and the Effia Nkwanta Hospital, among others.

“Mr Speaker, in addition, we will continue the following abandoned hospital projects: La General Hospital, Effia Nkwanta Hospital in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, Komfo Anokye Maternity Block, and the Ashanti Regional Hospital in Sewua.

“These projects symbolise our commitment to restoring trust and confidence in public healthcare delivery. By expanding access, modernising infrastructure, and integrating technology, we are laying the foundation for a healthcare system that is efficient, inclusive, and resilient.”

Dr Ato Forson also assured Ghanaians that the John Dramani Mahama government would construct six new hospitals to enhance healthcare delivery in the newly created regions.

“Mr Speaker, to bridge the inequality in access to healthcare across our regions, the government will commence the processes towards the construction of six new regional hospitals for the six newly created regions, beginning with three hospitals in 2026, as well as two district hospitals at Bole and Shama,” he added.
