Developing nations struggling with poverty and underdevelopment have no business spending scarce public funds on sending fans to foreign sporting events. Every dollar spent on flights, hotels, and tickets abroad is a dollar taken from classrooms, hospitals, and clean water projects at home. Ethically, it is indefensible to fund entertainment while citizens go hungry. Economically, it drains foreign currency into richer nations with no real return. The message is clear: national pride should not come at the cost of national progress.
