The hardships people experienced with the so-called huge salary increases were unprecedented. Inflation had skyrocketed, and the exchange rate was terrible. Even without any salary increases, the current conditions are far better than it was in the NPP era. Better economic conditions always solicit marginal increases in salaries; examples abound all around the world; from 1 to 3 percent increases in Europe and the Americas. Huge salary increases only shows a weak economy and a very "bad" currency like we had in Zimbabwe. Please stop the cheap propaganda. Nothing stops the government from considering Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) if inflation and other indices deteriorate; the NPP increased the base pay by 4 percent and 7 percent in 2021 and 2022 respectively, and later introduced a 15 percent COLA when things went from bad to worse. The records are there to show.

Then rent, transportation and accommodation comes in then the government thinks the Ghanaian is a magician hmmm there is no magic here they have turned the people into thieves to survive. 2022 Base pay was 7%. The cost of living allowance of 10% was not part of Base pay. It was later into the year when mismanagement and corruption culminated in untold hardship that workers have to put pressure through strikes to get the COT.

We need to make it into a form of insurance where all workers subscribe optionally so then we can have full dedicated legal team to fight for the rights of workers and also salary negotiations and wage negotiations. This will help our lawyers to equally get loads of work to handle.

Ghana must really consider this, this is how it is done in developed countries like the Scandinavian Countries
