Let’s be honest here. This should not be an issue. Allow the girls to concentrate on their studies as beginners, then when they become matured and in colleges and universities they can handle the hair issue the way they want. Adults are the ones who confuse children and when things go wrong they blame leaders. What is wrong with us. Wait and see what will happen when the so called hair styling is allowed, the girls will be late to school because of that or the hair will be unkept because they have no money to get it done. Allow children to be children.

There is an entourage of white people coming to Ghana for state visit and investment. Please tell Ghana's President Mr. John Mahama not to shake their hands nor signature any agreement with these white people, because some of them are NOT HUMAN BEINGS. If possible, let the meeting of these white people be held outdoors and not indoors. The agenda of these group of white people is to come to Ghana and BEWITCH the President and everyone around him into signing an investment agreement that looks progressive and luxurious on paper, but would later in the future sell the entire Ghana to every white person on Earth. This particular investment agreement if signed, would rob Ghanaians of everything they own yesterday, today and forever. Ghana's history from independence till date and Africa's rise to total freedom is what is driving some of these corrupt white investors to Africa, caution must seriously be applied. Please tell Ghana's President not to even listen to the freemason Ashanti King nor the Powerful Ga Mantse nor any African business mogul, because these specific group of white people will try all means to convince the President Mr. Mahama into signing that RECOLONIZATION investment agreement. Let every Ghanaian especially the Ghanaian media keep a strong eagle eye on the President and his government, so they don't fail in their governance and allegiance to the Ghanaian people. If possible, Ghana must enact a new law that forbids every Ghanaian government (present and future) and the private sector from selling and long term leasing of Land, Natural Resources and Properties to foreigners and their investment companies. Long Live GHANA and AFRICA!

The question i will ask is which of us dark caloured Africans was born with long or permed hair.we as a society copy everything blindly from the west.In America canning is not allowed in school, it brought about indiscipline that culminated into students bringing guns to school to kill. In Ghana we stopped canning and students have started bringing guns and weapons to shoot and kill each other and insult the president. Today it's hair tomorrow it be allow boys to wear ear rings. Societies will change but some traditions must be preserved till Jesus comes.

Today, it seems schools cannot have rules and regulation but what society prefer. This debate has become necessary due to importation of outside ideas which I termed as "copycats". At times, we hear people mentioning countries like the US, UK etc as if whatever they do, should be copied by every country on the planet.

Why Allowing SHS Students to Keep Long Hair Would Be a Detrimental Policy
In the structured environment of Senior High School, discipline, uniformity, and focus are essential pillars of academic and personal development. Allowing students to keep long hair may seem like a progressive move toward self-expression, but in practice, it risks undermining these very foundations. Such a policy would not only disrupt the culture of discipline but also introduce a host of practical and social challenges that outweigh any perceived benefits.
First and foremost, long hair in school settings often becomes a distraction. Adolescents are at a stage where appearance and peer validation play a significant role in their self-esteem. Permitting long hair could lead to an unhealthy emphasis on grooming, styling, and fashion competition, diverting attention from academics. Classrooms should be spaces of intellectual engagement, not informal beauty contests. When students spend more time worrying about their looks than their lessons, the core mission of education is compromised.
Moreover, enforcing grooming standards becomes significantly harder with such a policy. Schools already struggle with maintaining uniform codes and behavioral expectations. Introducing leniency around hair length opens the door to subjective interpretations and inconsistent enforcement. What counts as “neat” or “acceptable” becomes debatable, leading to friction between students and staff. Teachers and administrators would be burdened with policing hairstyles instead of focusing on instruction and mentorship.
Hygiene is another concern. Long hair requires more maintenance, and not all students have the resources or habits to care for it properly. In crowded classrooms and humid environments, poorly maintained long hair can contribute to hygiene issues, including lice infestations or unpleasant odors. This affects not just the individual but the entire learning community.
From a psychological standpoint, uniformity in appearance fosters a sense of belonging and equality. When everyone adheres to the same grooming standards, socio-economic differences are less visible, reducing bullying and social stratification. Allowing long hair could inadvertently highlight disparities—some students can afford salon treatments and products, while others cannot. This creates a hierarchy based on appearance, which is antithetical to the inclusive spirit schools should promote.
Finally, many SHS institutions serve as preparatory grounds for professional life. In many industries, especially those requiring uniforms or safety protocols, long hair is discouraged or regulated. Instilling grooming discipline early helps students adapt to workplace expectations. By relaxing these standards, schools risk sending mixed messages about professionalism and readiness.
In conclusion, while personal expression is important, it must be balanced with the collective needs of the school environment. Allowing SHS students to keep long hair may seem liberating, but it introduces distractions, enforcement challenges, hygiene concerns, and social inequalities. Schools must prioritize discipline, equity, and academic focus—values that are best upheld through consistent grooming policies. Long hair, in this context, is not just a style choice; it’s a slippery slope toward diminished educational standards.
