Restrain from retaliation:
The Quran teaches that responding to abuse with more abuse is unproductive. Instead, one should control their anger and avoid engaging in fruitless arguments.
Practice graceful withdrawal:
A "beautiful manner" of withdrawal means to separate oneself from those who provoke in a dignified and non-aggressive way.
Seek help through prayer:
The Quran advises seeking help through patience and prayer (2:45), emphasizing that true patience requires relying on God's strength.
Persevere with wisdom:
Patience is not about giving up but is an active process of perseverance. It allows one to use their intellect and emotions to find a result-oriented course of action rather than being overwhelmed by emotions.
Recognize the bigger picture:
The Quran suggests that a righteous person remains silent not out of fear, but because they trust in God's ultimate justice.

Thank you, Sir. Some engineers are even getting legal education lately. They're leaving their engineering careers to become lawyers. Whiles I support your view, I think our engineering education should be coordinated towards an agenda to produce a lot of the things we consume in this country. This is how we can grow and create employment for our people. We need to produce a lot of engineers who will create the future we need like what the Chinese and others have done.

The law program is not difficult, because there is no critical thinking required. Our kings, ciefs and elders were able to settle litigagatiins before the Europeans came. The problem with Africa is that, the laws studied in schools are foreign. And the lawyers are too lazy to study ournative laws and modify them for our use. They just chew and pour foreign laws and impose them on us. Sam Jona is spot on. The government should prioritize STEM education and give contracts to people with scientific mind. Scholarships should be given to more STEM students because the development of the country depends on them. Do you know why China is developing fo fast. It's leaders are engineers and mathematicians!

He is the first to have built a dormitory for a school. He is the first to build a library for a university. He has contributed. quite a bit to tertiary education development. The problem is deeper than what he is highlighting. The society is a very laid back one with many individuals having low horizon aspirations. A big black tainted car and a big house, don't worry wether the house is in a place where no tarred streets exist. You just have to have the capacity to show up at funerals and being seen to be rolling with politicians. That is the average Ghanians sense of great achievement. In 2025, our politics touts mundane road easement as a flyover. Ghana has just slipped back. It all started at the end of the 1970s, the Liman administration sought to recover it, given the many accomplished individuals who were in the government. For example the the then Attorney General resigned from office back to private practice when a cabinet reshuffle took him to Local Govt. The reason for being in Govt was that he wanted to be the AG. He was one of Ghana best lawyers at the time. The 1982 coup with the social disorder it promoted and the formation of the NDC that allowed and promoted a lot of political opportunism have all been part of what this country is today. The NPPs tantrums like a bunch of kids are part of the problems. It is a real shame to see this country decline in quality of life and aspiration.

Unfortunately that is what the media and the opposition made it look like. Have you forgotten the efforts led by Degraft Johnson to revive the gold industry which laid the ground work for the Symposium that Sam Jonah's presentation caught the attention of Kwesi Renner the then PNDC Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources. Liman was clear about what devaluation could do the economy and so when IMF staffed went to Sekondi to meet at the Residency while he was a tour of the Western Region he flatly told them that was not the way to get the economy going. And think about it why did World Bank and IMF introduce Structural Adjustment as major shift in policy model in Ankara in 1979.? I must admit it was a difficult period immediately after the 1979 revolution.

As said my the revered Sam Jonah, any country investing more in the humanities than in the sciences will never see or experience significant development. I wonder how many lawyers can be found in Japan, China, Germany, Singapore, etc. When you train more lawyers than scientists, then be rest assured that corruption will increase, because most enter into politics and start stealing state resources or most become litigants, exploiting the law for their own benefits. They defend criminals including corrupt persons to get their share

In 1992, a journalist called Karl Ganzah wrote about this in his feature article printed by the Daily Graphic. He concluded that our country was doomed if politicians are made up largely of lawyers than engineers. It was his reaction to the boycott by the GBA of the constitutional Assembly and the threatened boycott by the NPP of the first parliamentary election. Half of the leaders of the NPP from Da Rocha down except Adu Boahen were lawyers. How have we fared? Bad I guess, if you consider that the now well-advanced Rwanda was beginning to start a pogrom on itself in a self-destructive genocidal war.

Otherwise, there are no big corporate cases like in other developed countries where lawyers can become rich within short periods of time for handling corporate cases. Secondly we need to implement an research lab where discoveries and break throughs are turned into realities for human consumptions. If we can invest up to 15% of our GDP in research and development we will advance very fast just like what the chinese have done.
Subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Biology and Mathematics should be emphasized. Even Elon Musk has said it if you have an engineering problem you cannot solve you consult Physics and Mathematics.
We should also look into not retiring prematurely our hard working scientist. I had my greatest breakthrough when I turned 65 years. I am still working in the Lab surrounded by youngest brains who I mentor.
Take his message seriously

Just look at the number of people in the photo and that is just one graduation ceremony. The Government should step in and control the number of lawyers produced every year. The financial resources used in producing this large number of lawyers could be diverted to educating students in the natural sciences. We definitely do not need all these lawyers.

Real solid points made by Sam Jonah. The female broadcasters have also lately joined the law bandwagon. They have no idea how ridiculous they look in those British wigs?
Sam Jonah is just ignoran. Instead addressing the root cause of the problem, he is just scheming the surface. The whole issue is about General Education vrs Specialised Education full stop.
Look who is talking. This corrupt and nation betrayer should keep quite. What role have you played in producing engineers. Nonsense. Even as the Chancellor of UCC what did you do for the University. All you are interested i ...

My problem is not with the number but the quality of lawyers we are producing. Check the quality of lawyers the nation produced up to the 90s and recent ones, there is vast difference.

Oh my brother you can say that again
You said it all. Jonah is a thieve who betrayed his country
Building schools or hotels will require engineers and architects thus creating a market that the schools would meet. Plus I thought he ran a very big mine that one assumes employs engineers.
Well I guess we know better.

Hmmm I said it.
It's the easiest path to be a leach on that sweet IMF money. It's either the law degree or a purchased doctorate.
Rightly said. It has become the easy & quick way to make money in Ghana without contributing much to the development the nation. Talk talk, lie lie, scheme scheme. That's all they do. Rightly said, Sam Jonah.
