  His introduction of free tertiary education for the disabled is one of the great ideas he is bringing on board.
  
  His proposal for schoolchildren to be taught in local languages is an ill-conceived one that promises not only to undo any good thing he accomplishes but will create havoc in the educational system as well as harm the interconnecting social fabric of the country. I stress that the continued use of English - an international language, is incontrovertible and indisputable. It is the window through which our children will have an early advantage and opportunity to know and reach the prolific standards of the global village (the world) in which we all live in and depend on for our deserved sustenance.
  
  There is nothing wrong about anybody wanting to keep or learn his/her native language but where the goings-on of the world has reached today, there is not much chance for any of the approximately 3000 local languages spoken in Africa, to gain any meaningful measure of prominence or practical usefulness. As unfortunate as it may be, the tides of time and evolution have, in their irresistible and unflinching course, erased many thousands of local/native languages throughout the history world. According to UNESCO, more than half of the world's estimated 7000 languages will be extinct by the middle of this century. As the matter stands today, only 4% of the world's population speak most of the 7000 languages whilst 96% of the world's population speak the few major languages of the world ie, Chinese, French, English etc.
  
  With the English language, we can choose to learn anything and any other language in the world - including Nzema, Frafra, Ewe, Ga, Fante and so on. However on the obverse, we may not be able to learn much of the vast scope of information that the English language covers, from the limited purview of our local languages due to a limited worldview and vocabulary.
  
  All in all, I would like to suggest that what our educational system as a whole really needs, is a radical transformation of content, substance and purpose. That would be a "gargantuan" task. I wish Haruna well in his pursuits.

I DONT EVEN GET IT, it will just create a mess further down the line. He is just throwing words and directions about without deeply thinking through it. It is really a shame.
