Mr Minister. I voted for the NDC. My worry is ; why di you allow heads of schools to collect unnecessary items for first year students?
Assuming there are 1,000 freshers amd each of them is asked to bring the following,
1. A cutlass
2. A mob and its bucket
3. Washi g powder, or detergent
4. Disinfectant, dettol, etc
5. Duster
6. Rake/hole
7. Insecticide mosquito spray
8. And many more
And surprisingly the children are made to use their own washing powder whenever they do cleanings. This is repeated every year for new comers.
My question to the minister is WHERE DO THESE ITEMS GO?
The Minister should stop this diabolic extortions immediately and carry out an audit on the items collected.

Let's think about the over 80% of the student population whose parents cannot afford the costs of maintaining longer hair. What will be the psyche of such children who cannot afford to buy hair products to keep their hair longer? Day students may be allowed if they can keep it well. Let us not follow these Western ideologies, where most of their middle and high schools are day schools. Our high schools are typically boarding with a few day students.
Hair was kept short in the days when hair lice were very common and very difficult to rid the hair of. The idea is to keep the hair short so we can wash the scalp with water and soap every day. This kept lice off. As well, our crowded and hot classrooms will not help with our kinky hair. What about the water and electricity situation in our schools

Is Haruna saying that keeping bushy hair breeds indiscipline? Is he also saying that student should keep short hair because schools organise "ugly context"?. When will this country comes out of these type of mentality. You stress students with all forms of unnecessary rules and you call that disciplinary measures. The student leaves SHS and just three months after, she/he will enter tertiary school and will be wearing long hair, wigs, raster hair etc. does that make them indiscipline?. Please minister, discipline has nothing to do with long or short hair. Come out
with a more tangible reason why students should not wear long hair and stop this indiscipline thing.

What has longer hairstyles got to do with education scientifically? I don't believe in this nonsense sharia-style concepts.
Look,, let's be straight and fair. Some of these outmoded rules must be revised. I need a proper debate on air with facts to buttress that rule.
Let's stop this ideology of imposing things on people without proper backing with evidence.
Some things are best not said in public at all. The rules and guidance must be clear and fair to all. Harunah, why don't you come support you ideas with photos to assist the enforcers of that?
The Bible say train up a child the way he should grow and be will not depart from it when he is old.
Sadly, this doesn't work in realtime.
Let's stop deceiving ourselves and making life difficult. Why are all these same children putting on wigs and painting their faces etc after school in very responsible positions? That alone must be enough to rethink on that issue.
