For instance, here in Sweden, an individual holding both an M.D. and a Ph.D., or multiple legitimate academic or professional doctorates, would typically use the title only once, if at all, and certainly not multiply it to reflect the number of degrees earned. This raises the question: why is this preoccupation with multiple doctoral titles so pronounced in Africa? Why does this bona fide doctor need to preface her name with "Prof.", in addition to "Dr."?

Beyond the question of propriety, we must ask: what practical value have these titles delivered for Ghana's development? The widespread nature of this issue was starkly illustrated by the case of a former minister in the current Mahama government, Tanko Computer. I hope I got the name right. He was publicly exposed for not holding the claimed doctorate, having fabricated a website for the degree-granting institution. Observing him drop the title "Dr." in a recent GhanaWeb article prompts a critical reflection: why can't African professionals fulfill their responsibilities without needing to resort to needless and unverified titles?

This pattern is perhaps symptomatic of deeper societal issues. The elevation of Kwaku Duah to Asantehene—one barred from Canada due to documented fraud— underscores a serious lapse in our criteria for leadership in Africa versusthe West. This acceptance of compromised integrity in high places offers one potential explanation for the divergent paths of Western and African nations. The white man is where he is for a reason; the black man is at the bottom of the trash heap for another reason.

It is no wonder that unqualified people find it so easy to assume fake titles and qualifications because, in reality, there is no difference in performance value between the fake title holders and the genuine ones. If the presumed genuine academic title holders showed any signs of excellence in their fields of study, perhaps the charlatans would hesitate before assuming fake titles because the difference would glaring.

We produce thousands of graduates from our tertiary institutions every year but let's take a good look around us, we are going full speed in reverse gear. The only progress we are making is in the areas of theft, greed, dishonesty and general moral decay to a level which even Satan would be ashamed to associate with. We are in 2025 and we cannot even guarantee a sustainable provision of the most basic utilities such as water, electricity - and if I may add, common sense - in Accra the capital city. How much more the rest of the country.

98% of our graduates are not even eloquent or even proficient in the language with which they studied for over 20 years before strangely passing their tertiary exams in that same language to become graduates, PhD holders and all sorts of loony experts. If the result of all this was not so painful and tragic for the citizenry, our academic terrain would be classified as one of the longest running comedy shows on earth.

I suggest that the money that is wasted on running that G-TECH organization would be better spent on efforts to re-orient the academic substance and pursuits of our tertiary institutions from that of academic self-aggrandizement and glorification to productivity and socio-economic development.

All other universities in the country were then doing 3- year degree programmes until they changed later to four-year following educational reforms in the country to keep to international standards. UCC students were doing four years because students were concurrently pursuing two programmes; first degree and a diploma in education. I have the two certificates. If you’re really a graduate of UCC at the date you stated you graduated, then you should have known this basic fact.

It was rather the initiative of the Elders and few educated Northerners who requested Free Education before joining Ghana for independence that gave them that leverage.
Initially they refused to join the Gold-Coast for independence because they felt the disparity between them and the South.
They therefore demanded Free education in order to catch up with the South which was granted by the whites and Nkrumah.
Asante also made their demands so never be envious of the Golden Stool or the Otumfuo. if your ancestors didn't make any demands before joining Ghana pls don't blame anybody but your ancestors.

I’ve followed the conversation closely and with my experience here, I know Dr. Ayensu doesn’t qualify to use the Professor title but she’s forcing to have it by default because the press in Ghana freely allows anyone to adopt a title without due diligence. These days most of the politicians use fake qualifications why? Titles doesn't do the work. It is integrity, hard work, and honesty. Despite all the Drs and Profs we have in Ghana still our country is in shambles. Stealing in billions of cedis bad roads, no equipment and medicals in our hospitals. Our children sit under trees to attend school. Madam if you have issues just go to court. These qualifications have not brought development to Africa. Jinapor has Doctor of Education which is also a professional doctorate so going by what the GTEC board has prescribed for him to do, he is not qualified to lecture in the university. By extension, he is not qualified for a professorial rank. He is a lazy guy who publishes in predatory journals. His brother, John Jinapor,who is anot academic is even more visible than him. He completely absent from scopus, Google Scholar and researchgate. A so-called academic who's not found on these databases is kit worth what he claims to be. He is fake and an imposter.

The Deputy Health Minister is upset because her actual educational background has been revealed. If she believes the GTEC boss's statements are incorrect and harmful to her reputation, why hasn't she taken legal action to clear her name? Many individuals in Ghana hold titles without merit, and in this government alone, about four people with fake educational qualifications have been dismissed. She needs to stop acting foolishly and focus on her job. Just because she studied in the USA, she assumed that Ghanaians wouldn't verify the qualifications she presents. It shows a lack of judgment and integrity. A true professor would never speak about someone in such a derogatory manner. The GTEC position is a permanent role, and this temporary political position has made her feel superior to others. She lacks the competence for her role as Deputy Health Minister.

Jinapor is a very wicked and vindictive man. If you ask lecturers in Ghana, you will hear of his arbitrariness and disregard for laid-down laws. He has arrogated all authority to himself at GTEC and does whatever he likes. In the Colleges of Education, hardworking teachers who have toiled all their lives for the system have been downgraded to Instructors because they have MA/MEd/MSc, and not MPhil. Although the labour laws says you can not downgrade a worker because of a new regulation or qualification requirements. The best you can do is to keep that worker on the existing scale. This man has totally disregarded this labour law and downgraded these staff from their previous salary scale to a lower scale. All talks and pleas have fallen on deaf ears. Even the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education begged this man in a face to face meeting and he says he will not do it. All this is because some of the guys led strikes against GTEC in the previous government. Ironically, he has promoted all the College principals who have the same MA/MEd/MSc etc. and moved them to Assistant Lecturers and Lecturers. He does not apply rules with consistency. Again, if an accredited institution loses its accreditation later, you don't punish all those who acquired their certificates at the time when the accreditation was valid. This is because accreditation is time-bound and not everlasting. You can't use their new status to punish long time graduates. But Jinapor is doing exactly that, and it's because if he has a problem with one person in a particular institution, he will wage a war on all persons in the same situation as that person just so that he can punish the person to satisfy his thirst for revenge. Victimization and intimidation is the order of the day. How can you operate a state institution like your provision store, or rental property? People are not willing to talk because everyone wants to protect his daily bread. In a civilized country where laws actually work, GTEC should be having lot of court cases against them. This NDC government should really listen and do a thorough investigation into some of the things this man is doing in the tertiary space. You will be shocked
