Here is my question. In Ghana, are there blockades hampering girls from going to schools to any appreciable extent? At times, we hear statements like "ladies are now shattering the glass ceiling etc" but since my elementary school days, we were not only boys rather we have girls among us through secondary, commercials schools so, I don't understand the meaning of "women are now shattering the glass ceiling".

If there is no problem then fictitiously create and set out to solve it you create dislocation in society. Whats happening now is attention is being taken off the boy child. The boy child is now feeling inadequate, timid and intimidated at school. At the work place especially in the public more and more women are taking up the jobs and the men are being passed by so who marries who. The working women are targeting fabulous rich to marry or men leaving abroad otherwise they stay single.
Dr Aggrey says if you educate a man you educate an individual but if you educate a woman, you educate a whole nation. However, in contemporary days, this assertion is nomore relevant. When women are educated and earning money, the look for a higher bidder and whatever they earn is for them and whatever the spouse earns is for all of them. On the other hand an average man will not go out seeking a woman is earning higher than him. He looks out for the woman he can love and share his wealth and sometimes other women will depend on him for sustainance or survival.

The article should have started "...We remember one of the foremost scientists in Ghana, the first professor in Natural Science and a trailblazer...". The article was written as if she was alive. Ghanaweb should be ashamed of this article, but then, one would be expecting too much of your writers.
