The Government just wants to get easy money from the vehicles. Is the Registration going to be free for Commercial Vehicles? No. That means that the Registration fees will be transferred to the Passengers. Hmmmm. That means everything is going to go up in the cost. Is this change necessary? Go to our French Speaking neighbors and see if that is how they unreasonably charge the Tag of Vehicles.
In the Developed Countries, no number is changed. The vehicle must pass an emissions test. Then, the year of the test is pasted at the end of the existing number. This is done yearly and it brings in much revenue to the Government and the County. This is done annually. Yes, and the color of the Tag changes every year so it is not easy to cheat by printing your own Tag. Everything has been computerized throughout the country.so it is not easy to cheat. Try to print and use your own Tag and that becomes a Felony and attracts a Prison Sentence and a suspension of Driving License.. Mahama, the country can make more money by introducing the emissions tests which should be computerized nationally. Ghana has a lot to learn from the Developed World in this.

How about requiring an email address to ensure prompt correspondence, rather than chasing MPs around to serve them notice?
Why can't this simple identification formula be replicated on our Ghana Card, i.e.,

Can anyone tell me where in the world the name of the owner of the vehicle is displayed on the licence plate? I don't know of any. It is an invasion of people's privacy.
When I was in Sweden years ago, the licence plate was by year. So, for 2025 for example, it could be blue, but the MONTH would be embossed on it. The next year, 2026 it could be yellow, and carry the month. Authorities would therefore be able to tell if a car's licence has expired from afar. If 2024 was red for example, it would be immediately obvious that the car is not on the road legally. Oh, and it was near impossible to remove the stickers - so any stickers showing signs of tampering would be a sign of criminal intent. We should study what others have done. This one that we are about to inflict on ourselves is - in my opinion - invasive, unnecessary, and poorly thought out.

Now when you think properly through the misuse of the DV plates you'll realize that issue has to do with lack of law enforcement. So if we change the number plates don't enforce the law we will be back to square one. Again, only last week DVLA have, or have been made to stop enforcement of non compliant motorists regarding triangles, fire extinguishers, licenses, road worthiness, etc with the excuse that the driving public need to be educated before they continue. Now the question I ask is, which driver, before he or she obtained his or her license didn't know, and doesn't continue to know that they have to be compliant? Typical of Ghanaian authorities, it's an excuse to stop enforcing the law because, most probably, some big fishes caught to be non compliant have complained of their discomfiture. Another excuse to continue to be lawless.

Great move. Now help the problem between a payor and payee. There should never be any physical interaction between the two. What we have to do is for the payor to pay online ,in a payboot, whatever, get receipt and just submit the receipt to the payee for the license plate. There should be big sign at the office entrance ' NO BRIBES HERE'. There should be cameras around. Finally, one stroke of abuse and the payee loses their job. This practice should be introduced at the Airport and every where in Ghana. CORRUPTION IS GHANA'S MAJOR PROBLEM. LETS NIB IT IN THE BUD

I don't see the importance of this changes. Why give electric cars different numbers? They should also give diesel, petrol and gas different numbers respectively.
The stupidity is clear. Diff plates for electric vehicles? You are right, there should be plates for petrol and diesel cars too. Implementation without deep thought. SMH

How old then can we know the age of any vehicle on the road?
What's that your business,??? Ghanaians are different type of animals ampa.....what dumb question
Why all the number plates top written Greater Accra.
Go America and other developed countries. Even in Nigeria, you know the state, county or region the vehicle is coming from or registered.
Don't just comment for comment sake. Those countries are federal states and the states are autonomous in certain things. Ghana is a unitary state so don't compare Ghana to those countries
You're rather commenting for commenting sake for your information those initial you see on the old number plates means the same thing, it represents the regions, district and so on.
Just an exhibition.
Oh God have mercy on a country call ghana where some of the ruling governments appointees are Jokers.

Don't be disingenuous. The information you're talking about can all be added to the current system without needlessly changing the number plates.
You are lying in the UK year of registration is on the number plate. If you don't know ask don't say what you don't know.
But wait oo, how do you read this long numbers at night when a wicked driver is running away. Oh Ghana, think.
Do you remember your phone number you have had 10yrs now???
Slogan for what?? What kind of gyimie is that??
For all we know, the decision to put in this change of numbering did not just start with the coming in of this government.

Under Npp we had so many different meters from ECG , why was it so? Can someone help me with an answer?
Multiple meters under npp doesnt mean ndc should copy same. Do better, not replicate errors of npp
This issue about misuse of DV plates is a law enforcement issue and not the number plate. So we will change the number plates and still be back to square one because the law will not be enforced.
Simple as that
We are just a bunch of jokers in this town. This is too no to cost millions that could have been spent on health and education. There is no home for Ghana
Remove education from your comment.....because you mindset in your comment indicates that education in Ghana is a waste resource, time, money than the number plate change
I am against this plate change because it will cost the economy unnecessary importation of the number plates and brings no value to Ghana. Waste.
Why don't you still ride on horses like 1400s
Nitwit, the people who brought us the car don't change number plates every few years or every time they change government.
