Upon reading only the title of this article, it struck me that I should write a rejoinder encouraging Nii Lante to go for the chairmanship of the NDC. However after reading the article - especially the part that Nii Lante states that he will only run for the chairmanship position if his brother or friend, Asiedu Nketia, decides not to run, I immediately disqualified him as a serious politician. Nii Lante obviously does not fit into the Reset aspirations of the NDC Party and govt. Clearly, he himself, by that statement, has just implied that he is not equipped to improve the fortunes of the NDC any better than the shambolic performance of Asiedu Nketia and his team. That's fine. He should therefore stay in his little corner and sleep there.

What the NDC should understand is that it wasn't because of any commendable opposition strategies or a winsome election campaign that brought them victory in the last elections. It was the disgraceful non-performance of the NPP govt that brought them into power.

Some of us who are not members of the NDC, have a lot of goodwill for that Party for the simple reason that currently, it's the best thing going for this country and there is no other promising alternative that can keep this country afloat. This opinion is buttressed by the massive loss of the ethnically driven NPP in the last elections. They performed so badly in the never to be forgotten 8 year kakistocratic nightmare of the Akuffo Addo regime that even their ethnic stronghold failed them. Looking at the current line up of those who are fighting among themselves to take up the leadership positions of their party for the next elections tells me that good sense has eluded that party. And if the NDC doesn't sit up and get their act together, they will go the way of the NPP and this country will be up for grabs.
