With the current system that we have ghana may end up with about 350 constituencies in the next 20 years. Why is it that every new district must have its constituency? Lobbying and getting a district capital means that district capital and district is assured of development. So as the people continue to lobby for the creation of more districts it means more constituencies. What idiotic system is this? Go to the house of commons and find out the last time a constituency was created in the UK and you will be baffled at the answer you will get. So now our governments have taken advantage of the situation and always want to create more districts especially in political strongholds to show the people they care and to garner more votes for the party. And you can't blame the people. Look at the amount of money the current government is pumping into the districts after uncupping the district assembly common fund. As a country we must examine this system of linking the creation of districts to the creation of constituencies. It is not helpng us !!!!!!!!

Exactly. How many MPs does a coin like Ghana need to run efficiently? Most of them are very useless and have no clue on whatever is going on in the legislature let alone checking the executive branch for the people.

Hei Mr Bagbin, 276 MPs for a small country like Ghana? What are you talking about here? With 276 MPs what do they do that you need another a chamber?. Aren't you ashamed that because of you MPs the country is not developing? I pray that one day we will have 16 MPs representing each of the regions. How many of our MPs even organize town hall meetings to solicit our views on national issues? How many? MPs are voted to represent us in parliament, to make our voices heard and to make laws. You are not to undertake projects as your core function but to facilitate the process. But MPs have decided to neglect their duties - fighting in parliament - to undertake projects for fear of not being voted again. If in 4 years a parliament can come out with only 1 law or LI to address national issues then that parliament is not fit for purpose.
Ghana parliament is now an avenue of making money. Thai is the tragedy of Ghana parliament.
