  I very much respect the Asantehene but I think he could do better for Asanteman and Ghana because of the respect accorded him Worldwide. There is however that beats me and I want to be corrected with facts if I am wrong. This is it: Do the other Chiefs and AMANHENE in Asanteman swear an Oath of Allegiance to the Asantehene or to the Asanteman Council which the Asantehene is seen as the Primus Inter Pares or the First among Equals? Is the Asantehene mightier than the other Amanhene of all the Amantour states? According to what I learned and understand, the Asantehene is not superior to the other Amanhene but he is given the maximum respect in all Asanteman. According to Oral History, it was an attempt by one Asantehene to be regarded as the greatest of all the Amanhene of the Amantour states that led to the war between Juaben and the Asantehene that made the people of Juabeng who were defeated to flee to Akyem Abuakwa for refuge. The Akyem Abuakwahene gave the defeated Juabeng people the Present Day New Juaben. So the people of New Juaben trace their ancestry to towns in Old Juabeng. My Grandfather from my mother’s side of Asokore Koforidua used to attend functions and funerals at Old Asokore. Yes, the people of Oyoko Effiduase, Asokore, Akwadum in the Eastern region until quite recently attended important functions at their ancestral towns in Asanteman
  . It is very funny that some Asantehene’s tried to lord over the Omanhene of New Juaben. In one instance, the Present Asantehene ordered that no other Omanhene should ride the Palanquin in Kumasi except him. then Omanhene of New Juaben who was very well educated and was the Government Statistician who was on his way to Kumasi for a function returned to Koforidua if he,as an Omanhene like the Asantehene will not be allowed to ride in his Palanquin.
  It became extremely funny and interesting when the Present Asantehene wanted to be the only Omanhene to ride the Palanquin at Koforidua when Kwaku Boaten died. The Paramount Chief of Koforidua refused to allow that so the Present Asantehene refused to attend the funeral of Kwaku Boaten.
  I have lived at Koforidua for many years and realized that the people there do not easily yield to the dictates of the Asantehene if it will directly affect them. For example, when the Asantehemaa died, schools, offices in the Jurisdiction were made to close down but the people of New Juaben did not allow that. Even Markets and Stores were opened. The Asantehene is great but cannot dictate to the other Amanhene in Asanteman.

  This is perfect timing to ask Ghanaians a question about allegiance. The lack of knowledge and understanding continues to hurt Ghana in many ways with "allegiance" being one of the actions the makes it harder for most Ghanaians to love mother Ghana.
  
  For these 2 reasons below, I believe Ghanaians should swear allegiance to mother Ghana and no one or nothing else if we are truly honest.
  
  1. A person who pledges commitment/ allegiance to the Christian God cannot obey any other gods; a Muslim who pledges allegiance to the Muslim faith cannot pledge to others unless a pledge is a mere formality. Hence people with dual citizenship who pledge allegiance to some other nation cannot and must not be trusted with the health, safety, security and affairs/wellbeing of Ghana or vice versa.
  
  2. If there was ever a conflict between the national government and a tribe, hypothetically the Ashante tribe would the Kwamanghene honor his loyalty to the Asantehene or to mother Ghana in a case where the Asantehene is right or wrong over the issue as stake?
