Such migrants should be able to speak and also write Twi.. What is good for the Goose is also good for the Gander. Imagine a European , Canadian and Asian struggling to speak AYIGBE and Gonja or GRUSHIE. That will be interesting.

  Hi senior, you are right, Ghana can also impose similar immigration rules on the United Kingdom but we compromise easily on our rules and regulations. The UK benefits system attract a lot immigrants including those who can speak their language and they have to spend a lot to train immigrants on English language. This is putting a lot on their budget before putting you to work. Those who can't speak the language especially the political asylum seekers had to relay on government for financial support before engaging work seeking. Most people target the benefits system. They commit crime and in court the government had to pay an interpretor for them. This is restraining their budget hence the call to strengthen their immigration law. I am an Legal Practice Course final year student at the University of Law and Immigration law and practice is one of my core modules to qualify here in the UK as a lawyer after completion of my training contract. It is being like in Ghana School of Law (Mokola) to become a lawyer and call to the GBA. So, I understand the process.

  Immigration rules are necessary in every country to maintain law and order. Fortunately, we live in a free world. If people are not happy with a particular country's immigration requirements, then they are free to choose to go somewhere else.
  A far more important issue for Ghanaians and other foreign nationals hoping to relocate to the West for work or study is the ISSUE OF THE COST OF LIVING. This is by far the biggest issue. Until 7-10 years ago the biggest hurdle for people wanting to travel to any Western country was securing a visa or resident permit. That has become the easiest pat and far more challenging is how to afford the cost of living when you relocate to these countries.
  1.Cost of renting accommodation.
  2.Cost of energy (electricity and gas especially during the Winter months)
  3.Cost of transportation private or public
  4.Cost of food
  and many others too numerous to list here means that the starting salary for most people will not be able to cover these essential costs.
  The kind of job that most Ghanaians go for when the go abroad are mainly located in the cities and bigger towns. Unfortunately, these are the very locations where rent costs are highest and constantly going up.
  
  ANY PERSON PLANNING TO RELOCATE ABROAD MUST TALK TO PEOPLE ALREADY LIVING THERE FOR 10 OR MORE YEARS. Life is very tough for most immigrants abroad whether they are there legally or not.
  A lot of Ghanaians who have moved abroad are just managing to keep their heads above water financially by literally WORKING DAY AND NIGHT. Working without adequate sleep or rest quickly leads to very serious chronic illnesses including HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, TYPE 2 DIABETES, EXCESSIVE WEIGHT GAIN OR OBESITY AND MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS INCLUDING DEPRESSION. MOST PEOPLE OF COLOUR TYPICALLY DEVELOP MODERATELY SERIOUS TO SEVERE VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY DURING THE LOW SUNLIGHT WINTER MONTHS AND ESPECIALLY IF THEY DO LONG-TERM NIGHT SHIFTS. Prolonged vitamin D deficiency has serious health consequences. Taking LOW DOSE VITAMIN D3 (e.g. 1000iu) supplementation daily will prevent deficiency.
  
  This is why it is extremely important for those living abroad and working under these conditions to LEARN TO SAY NO to very demanding friends and relatives back home who treat them as if they are a PRIVATE BANK. A FEW TIMES A YEAR WE HEAR OF GHANAIANS LIVING ABROAD DYING IN THEIR SLEEP. MANY OF THESE FOLK DIE AS A DIRECT OR INDIRECT RESULT OF OVERWORKING AND NOT RESTING ENOUGH PARTLY IN AN EFFORT TO SATISFY SELFISH AND VERY DEMANDING PEOPLE BACK HOME.
  
  Another problem that is worth noting is THE GROWING HOSTILITY THAT MANY WHITE WESTNERS HAVE TOWARDS IMMIGRANTS ESPCIALLY AGAINST PEOPLE OF COLOUR.
  This is in part due to the steadily deteriorating economic situation in most of these Western countries and the huge surge of illegal immigrants arriving on their shores in recent years.

  A level English is basic for goodness sake and has nothing to do with an accent. There's too many people who come to the UK and don't speak proper English or refuse to learn. English is a universal language!!

  Really, there is nothing like A Level English. What is taught at the Advanced Level is Literature in English. Nobody learns English Grammar and Pronounciations at the GCE Advanced Level.

  Most people will survive and even thrive no matter where they go and no matter the challenges they face if they are
  1.Very hard working (but they must have some sense and not end up ill or even kill themselves by nonstop working day and night.) Hard work alone is not enough. One must also plan the future carefully and set achievable goals within certain time limits. AIM HIGH!
  2.Have integrity. Aim for excellence in whatever you do. Another way to put this is to say DO EVERYTHING WELL WHETHER GREAT OR SMALL AND WHETHER PEOPLE ARE APPLAUDING YOU OR NOT- MAKE THIS A HABIT AND DO THINGS BY THE RULE BOOK TO PROTECT OTHERS AND ALSO YOURSELF. If you make a mistake quickly own up and don't ever try to cover up as you will likely end up in far more trouble. You are more likely to be respected and appreciated when you own up your mistakes.
  However, you need to know that as a Black person or person of colour if you make CARELESS or FOOLISH mistakes (e.g. by not following established safety guidelines) you are far more likely to be heavily penalised than say a White colleague and you may even lose your job!
  3.As a Christian one of the challenges you may face is learning to cope with discrimination, slights and unfair treatment. This can be very hard. Most of these can be safely overlooked and always try to keep a good attitude. If an environment becomes unbearable then plan carefully to move elsewhere-NEVER ACT HASTELY OR SPEAK OR COMMUNICATE HASTELY IN ANGER.
  4.Depending on where you end up living having a meaningful Social Life can be challenging. Living and working in rural areas can be more challenging for some people than living in a big city because of social isolation. There is a greater likelihood of meeting people from your kind of background if you live in a big city.
  For those who are Christian, a local Church may be a point of social contact although you need to remember that the Church in some respects is a representative of the people living in that local area so you may well encounter some BIGOTS and RACISTS in there as well.
