To legally use the title PROFESSOR or DOCTOR with no academic credentials, go and swear an affidavit before a Commissioner of Oaths to change your name; add PROFESSOR or DOCTOR as you new first name.

Publish your new name in the Ghana Gazette. Then go to the National Identification Authority (NIA) for a new Ghana Card. Simple. That's the law.

GTEC cannot challenge your Prof. or Dr. title because it's your name. There is no law in Ghana that states that you cannot adapt Professor or Doctor as your first name.

The affidavit and gazette will protect you from any challenge from GTEC. You can then boldly refer to yourself as Prof. William H. Y. T. W. V. X. Akoto

This section is broad and can apply to cases where someone falsely claims an academic title like “Dr.” or “Prof.”—especially if the representation is used to gain advantage, deceive others, or mislead the public.
