Why can't we equally sue the government for not fixing our bad roads that are causing hefty damages to drivers vehicles, causing accidents and killing us in the process. Any government worker can just sit in his office and make nonsensical " legal" regulations or rules without public input and expect full public compliance?

The DVLA should have been embarrassed to impose such fines in the first place. It is deeply hypocritical to penalise motorists over the so-called roadworthiness of their vehicles when the roads themselves are largely unworthy of use. Take the Tema–Accra motorway, for example — once a symbol of progress, now riddled with craters and uneven surfaces. Across the capital, many roads remain untarred, and even the paved ones are scarred with potholes that destroy suspensions and tyres daily.
How fair is it to blame drivers for vehicle conditions caused by the state’s own neglect? Most major roads lack proper drainage and streetlights, turning evening commutes into safety hazards. Meanwhile, enforcement officers look on unconcerned as trotro drivers, private motorists, politicians, and even police convoys recklessly drive on the wrong side of the road or onto pedestrian walkways, if those dusty patches can even be called that.
Instead of targeting ordinary drivers, authorities should confront the real issue: a failing road network that has not kept pace with Ghana’s growing population and vehicle numbers. Accountability should begin at the top, not at the expense of citizens trying to navigate roads the state itself has rendered dangerous.
