I am wandering how a zero tarrifs trade deal with china can be beneficial. In the area of manufacturing to be precise, there is no way Ghana can be more competitive than China. Can someone explain to me how Ghana can competitively manufacture anything for the Chinese market. China is doing their own manufacturing for absolutely every (basics and advanced). In other words Ghana can only export raw materials to China. I'm certain any tarrifs free trade deal will only benefit China and crush Ghana's one manufacturing efforts. I hope I'm wrong.

Spot on, Nii. This is an unequal terms of trade. What happens to ACFTA? The AU should be negotiating for Africa as a block. Germany is not negotiating with China. No, the EU bloc is. California (comparable to the 4th largest GDP) is not negotiating with China: the USA is. What is wrong with long-term strategic thinking for our children, African children? Ablakwa, did we not sit in the same International Political Economy class?

Sounds like a great deal for Chinese exporters who need to find alternative markets to dump their goods following the trade war with America.

So what at all is wrong with this Mahama guy? Why do our leaders always fall for these kinds of tricks? How are we supposed to benefit from trade deals like these from China? China is seeking to expand its trade with the rest of the world due to the current trade war of tariffs with the Americans. This is how we are going to kill our local industries in the next 5 years. They're now going to flood our markets with their cheap goods. Our leaders are sick in the head. them all.

Very soon we will only see Chinese cars on Ghana roads. Where will all those used cars from US, Canada and Europe go from here on?
