How do our politicians feel about some workers left unpaid for several months, sometimes years and they enjoy their fat salaries and allowances each month? A hungry nurse/midwife is dangerous to work in empty stomach. It's also said that, a hungry man is an angry man so no wonder a nurse went overboard to say what she said because if a worker salary is not forthcoming and looking at cost of living, one will be tempted to use harsh words to the authorities. The health minister has promised that they will be paid next month but he failed to tell us something about the accumulated salaries. Are they going to be paid with full back-pay or only 3 months back-pay as it happened during JDM's first term? Those mistakes shouldn't be repeated this time around.

If their services are needed and they indeed worked, then it is very immoral (sheer wickedness) to keep their salaries unpaid all these months. No amount of excuses can justify this wickedness meted out to them, governance is a continuum. The current government was aware of the enormity of the responsibility at hand, before assuming the helm of affairs. The salaries of this group of workers should have been part of the first charge to the Consolidated Funds as required by law.
“The worker is worthy of his or her wages.” “You shall not exploit a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your countrymen” (party foot soldier or employed by your government) “or one of your strangers” (opposition party member or employed by the previous government) “who are in your land in your towns” (establishments). “You shall give him his wages on his day before the sun sets” (the beginning of a new month) “—for he is poor and sets his heart on it—so that he does not cry out against you to the LORD, and it becomes a sin in you”, and the repercussions extended to entire country.
