This was to demonstrate how rich the then Takyimanhene was, so the beauty of this yam plantation within his massive courtyard by then became an Akan proverb to wit “ a beautiful roadside thing is done with money “ Don’t forget Asante was part of great Akan tribe or whatever you may wish and Asante was funded in 17th century, by then yam was already a staple food in the whole Africa, especially Western Africa. The Dagombas and Bono were cultivating all varieties of yams. The Ewes were cultivating all varieties of fruit today Volta region all the way to Nigeria. Stop this nonsense!
