These NPP MPs (and some media men) don't understand the agreement attained on DStv pricing. The Minister wanted a 30% reduction in subscriptions and what was agreed is that, whichever package a customer subscribes to, he/she will be offered a package one-step higher.
Thus in effect, if you intend to watch a package, what you have to pay is for a package one-step below it. This means that, if I want to watch Premium whose subscription is 865 ghc, I will only have to pay the subscription for Compact Plus, ie, 570 ghc - this is 34% reduction in price. Applying this agreement to all the packages would mean a price reduction from 33% to 50%. This is even better than what the Minister had wanted. So what is the point these minority MPs are raising?
