The HS1 cost the UK Government £6.4BN to construct railway in London. 7 months NDC in power GoldBod alone has rake in over $6BN, what can we show for it? It is very sad that we can't even say that we as a country are using even one earning from one export to dualise Accra to Kumasi Road or construct railway line from Accra to Kumasi! All these foreign exchange earnings and the numerous taxes where do they go?? Ghana is rich but not poor. Gold alone can solve a lot of our infrastructure problems.

Did you read my comment without your medicine or glasses? I said if our leaders can dedicate one source of foreign exchange on export to just give us a massive infrastructure like railway, motorway etc. Remember oil money is there, cocoa not mentioned and the taxes from GRA. Now let me tell you something if you Civil Servants will stop your selfishness where you even take per diem doing meetings organised within your own offices etc, the pressure on the consolidated funds will be less so that these foreign exchange can be put to good use! Our problem is with you civil servants, your are the cause of all our problems.

Mr Jantuah please stop that ok! It doesn’t matter whether judges are appointed, elected or whatever will not stop them from abusing their positions. Are you suggesting that judges must have their way in society whereby nothing will happen to them even if they go against the constitution? Who is going to watch over them to ensure that they don’t do things outside their power? We all know that the judges in Ghana are divided into political lines so nothing can stop them from being bias against a political party.

Most of these lawyers talk from their arses. Judges all over the world are appointed by the executive. Can Kwame Jantuah name any country which does otherwise? They talk about judicial independence as if judges are from heaven. There is no management concept in the world which is 100% perfect. The GBA elect their own leaders. Are they not being manipulated by the NPP? Judges also interfere in other arms of government. Didn't Gertrude Torkornoo manipulate Afenyo Markins suit about parliament? In the lgbtq case, was the CJ not supporting Akuffo Addo against parliament giving an excuse about injunction? Can the judiciary stop the executive or parliament from doing constitutional duties? These lawyers talk as if they are coming from the planet Jupiter.

Recipe for unrest and disaster. The system as it is today is fine. Putting such power solely in the hands of the judiciary will be a mistake and recipe for disaster.

If we believe Ghana's parliament and the office of the president are influenced by the politics of the day then the judiciary can never be free of political influence. It will not make a darn difference whether judges and justices are nominated by the president or by any national body made up of Ghanaians neither will parliament that has confirmation powers be free of politics.
First, most Ghanaians are tribal; we have love for our tribe and political party than for mother Ghana. It is our tribal and political party preferences that motivate and aids us to vote for our choices of candidates. If we naively believe that by not letting our judges and justices run for their seats on our courts, like politicians do, we eliminate political influences then any system we propose to remove politics and interference with the judiciary MUST NOT and cannot involve Ghanaians, period.
The ONE thing that has been at the root of Ghana's political discourse and agitation is the NPP party that, with its chameleon-like flare, changes its name and colors while ascribing to its founding principle that they possess the sole God-given right to govern Ghana and a Ghana voter base that is largely ignorant of issues because of misinformation and falsehoods peddled by so-called journalists and media houses.
The NPP and those who are crying wolf today because of the process used to remove Gertrude Torkornoo would want us to believe 2 things: (a) there's a crime that if committed by a CJ would be grounds for removal but they are yet to name one. Perhaps whatever crime they come up with should be the same crime that should be the basis for the removal of a president or an MP since the 3 branches are presumed to be co-equal and (b) any crime they suggest now will be the basis to for the impeachment/ removal of all office holders bound by article 146.
The NPP cannot do so today because they are the party that, on record, promised to seek revenge on the CJ if they should ever gain political power again. The NPP should never forget that it is political influence peddling when a president nominates a justice to be the CJ with lesser years of experience in judiciary than others or the nomination of a justice that was not on the SC at the time of his/her nomination to become the CJ.
