Ghanaweb writers are very lazy. This incident actually led to the financing of the Akosombo Dam. The President of USA enquired about the mission of the Finance Minister. After the Minister told President Ike, his mission, the president introduced the Minister to Kaizer Aluminium. Who then helped to finance and build the Akosombo Dam.

A lot of things are attributed to Nkrumah, but for the Minister Gbedemah and US government, Akosombo Dam wouldnt have seen the light of day.

Interestingly Ghana's economy started going downhill after Gbedemah was sacked by Nkrumah. By 1965, Ghana was bankrupt and had asked for IMF bailout.

All these things are out there but Ghanaweb chose not to educate and inform Ghanaians.

It was this same man Komla Agbeli Gbedemah who ceded his assembly seat in Ayawaso to Nkrumah who was not contesting on any seat and actually led a spirited campaign for Dr.Kwame Nkrumah, traversing the length and breath of the Gold Coast for Gold Coast & Ghana's independence in the 1951 assembly elections to elect the first PM for the Gold Coast. This happened when Nkrumah himself was languishing in jail.. KN therefore became the first PM and leader of government business that same year..

KA Gbedemah won a decisive victory for the CPP, winning 34 out of 38 assembly seats! which left the colonial government with no choice but to release Dr Nkrumah's for eventual independence in 1957..

Again, same old KA Gbedemah led Dr Nkrumah's economic policies to seek funding for the great Akosombo Hydro Dam, Valco etc while Dr Nkrumah was flirting with Russia who lack the real resource to execute that ambitious projects.
KA Gbedemah, parted ways with Nkrumah in 1962 largely on the basis of policies on Nkrumah's flirtation with Russia who according to Gbedema had little to offer Nkrumah considering his dream and vision for Ghana. That was how they eventually parted ways..
The CPP has alot of apologies to offer KA Gbedemah pushing his indispensable contribution to the setting up and the achievement of the cpp because he did more than most of the socalled people who hypocritically process to be true Nkrumaiast when they did very little to make the CPP what it was then..
The cpp must redeem itself now by putting Afro Gbede in his right in the CPP else darkness will they remain till the end of time..
