We don’t have a problem updating the card but no one has time to wake up and form very long nonsense queues for that. If it’s online where you can just update until it’s renewal then good.

"US national ID card" isn't a single document, but rather a category. State-issued REAL ID cards and U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) USID cards do expire and must be renewed to remain valid.
