It’s unfortunate that, as Africans, whether Ghanaians or Nigerians, we fail to realize that we live in a community with a shared future and should see each other as partners instead of rivals, and view each other's development as an opportunity rather than a challenge. Why did the Ghanaian leaders sign on to ECOWAS free movement of goods and people and neglect to inform, educate, and prepare the citizenry before its implementation? Instead of a collective focus, why are some Ghanaian leaders so selfish and self-seekers? Where are the cultural exchange programmes between these two nations to foster better understanding? Where are the media exchange programmes to help enlighten the masses on the dynamics of populations, markets, capacities, metrics, or metrologies?
Is Ghana not the headquarters of AfCFTA? What is the country doing to invest heavily in infrastructure, such as a dual-carriage rail network, roads, or highways, to provide market access and lower the cost of production to the citizenry? Before the enthronement of Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru, wasn't there the Igbo Yaw Festival in Accra? So yesterday, it was welcome in Ewe or Akwaaba; What's next? We have signed on to the AU and ECOWAS protocols, and instead of enlightening the populace, the Ga Traditional Council is preoccupied with protectionism, haba!
Why can't Prof. H.K. Prempeh, Prof. Douglas Boateng, Exec. V.P. Yaw Nsarko and Dr. Nii Moi Thompson come together to define the short, medium, and long-term vision for the country, as well as set guardrails or regulations through the Constitution. Ghana is the headquarters of AfCFTA, and you will not read anywhere that Dr. Yaw Adutwum is preparing to increase the Ghanaian gross tertiary enrollment rate to mid-seventies from sixteen percent, or the permanent tripartite national development planning commission is organizing to point the path to peace and prosperity that emanates from building infrastructure, logistics, supply chain, technology, and machinery for the Ghanaian manufacturers, or plans to cater to the 1.5 billion consumers on the continent.
In summary, let's focus on substance, rather than style, because in the end, we are all part of a community with a shared future. Better information sharing with the masses, education, and cultural exchange between the two nations are preferable to isolation or protectionism in this era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

@Kofi Banza: and where were you as well when Nigerians - some of whom were born and raised in Ghana and as such had no other form of livelihood outside the country - had their properties in Adum and Asafo in Kumasi, as well as other places in Ghana forcibly seized as a result of Busia's alien compliance order, and some ended up commiting suicide by jumping into the sea enroute Nigeria?
Some of you suffer from selective amnesia and only identify something as being problematic when directly affected. Mind you, the events I describe above happened nearly a decade before Ghana must go. Nigerians haven't made a big deal about these incidents, yet you lot have been shouting on the rooftops for nearly 40 years now.
Since you lot evidently don't learn anything from history, just pray that this issue you are trying to (re)start never materializes, else when Nigerians decide to retaliate, you'll be crying for the next 50 years again. You know we don't play.

@Jones, when any country declares herself as Republic, the concept of Kingship, Nobility, Monarchy etc dies with it or jettisoned on that very day. If ignorant journalists or our gullible politicians want to address a citizen of Republic of Ghana as His Royal Majesty, it means that they themsleves do not understand why Ghana was declared a Republic in the first place. And, that includes President Mahama.. in the Grand Scheme of things, there sre only three Monarchs in Africa, that of Morocco, Eswatini and Lesotho. The rest are mere citizens and not Kings. And, that is an indisputable fact.

All these countries are in Africa and were colonised as well. There are no Kings or Kingdoms in the Republic of Ghana. It is as simple as that. A king does not necessarily have to be sovereign to be a king. A ruler over a large territory like the Asante tribe can be referred to as a king, though in this case, not a sovereign one. The reason he is referred to as a king is all about the size and population of the territory he rules over. There is no other tribe in Ghana, that has a single ruler over such a large territory and populace. The other tribes are either smaller in size or they don't have a single ruler but have multiple chiefs over divisions or clans of that ethnic group.

2: Kings have their images embossed on the currencies of the Kingdoms that they rule.

This story lack clarity. If the so called Igbo King claims the earlier story was fake that is fine. But did he attend the funeral with his entourage on the said date? How was the reception? Were they recognized by any member of the funeral committee? Were they instructed to follow certain protocols? Was he the person captured in the video or not? Was he and his group instructed to remove their hats and bow to show respect to Otumfuo which they did after that they were directed out of the funeral grounds? These are questions he must answer so we can dig deep at Manhyia for more checks. But just telling us it was fake news and misinformation, I don't buy it.

Were all the people at the funeral ground invited to be there. Everybody was given the green light to be there, but only selected personalities and positions were invited to go and greet Otumfuo. Obviously this Igbo scammer could attend the funeral but had no right to be received by Manhyia and Otumfuo. They were recognized as Ibo community in Kumasi when they donated but nothing more. One thing is he was introduced to Otumfuo as leader of the Igbo community in Kumasi or so in 2013 and not an Igbo King in Ghana. His spokesman has come out to make it clear that what the guy is doing is branding himself to be seen by outsiders as an important personality so he can defraud them.

Yes the Igbo 'dignitaries' were not snubbed as the man is saying.
However, the delegation was not given any recognition of royalty, which is clearly seen in the circulating videos. They were 'hosted' like other public personalities at the event. Chiefs/Kings approached and greeted the Otumfuo with hand-shakes, with their head dress on before and after the Igbo 'delegation'.

The word KING infuriates Ghanaians! He can better describe himself as LOCAL IGBO CHIEF, and nobody will complain. After all, in all communities leaders of other tribes are referred to as Dagombafoohene, Fantifoohene, etc. I used to live in Europe, and we installed all sorts of Ghanaian chiefs. We celebrated all kinds of festivals in full cultural regalia, and the Europeans were so impressed with our beautiful culture. Why should we be maltreating our own Nigerian brothers here in Africa? There is already this weird discussion about who can be called King here in GH. To say the truth, all our paramount chiefs are Kings in their own right. It is the colonial masters who created this Chief title, just to distinguish our leaders from their European kings, thereby belittling our rulers.
I will urge our Nigerian brothers
to desist from addressing their leader as King, and that will make them more acceptable to us.

He is just a fool don't mind him. He should announce a new date and venue for that intended shit and let's see. Can a Ghanaian go to Ajengule and claim to be a chief celebrating Homowo festival? Igbo man
Fork off. Go to that useless country of yours where people will do everything, anything for chief title. You are disturbing our peace. Nauseating, what is all this self relevance? Spare our media space with your useless news. ...

Were all the people at the funeral ground invited to be there. Everybody was given the green light to be there, but only selected personalities and positions were invited to go and greet Otumfuo. Obviously this Igbo scammer c ...

This guy is a crook.
Ghanaweb is the problem. Stop giving this guy prominence..
This man is not a truthful person
You are giving him too much relevance.
The persistence of violence in the name of a “merciful God” indicates that what people worship might not be God at all, but their own ambitions legitimized in so-called holy books.
In Africa there are only two kingdoms Lesotho and Etswatini, that is all
Yes the Igbo 'dignitaries' were not snubbed as the man is saying.
However, the delegation was not given any recognition of royalty, which is clearly seen in the circulating videos. They were 'hosted' like other public person ...

This man is a certified and confirmed con - man and a liar....even if the whole world see his hands in fire, he will say it is water.
Why is Ghana entertaining this divisive character? He should be deported to his country immediately.
