  Sustain cadet corps to promote patriotism? Are insinuating that most of Ghana's high school students are patriotic since the cadet corps only comprises a small segment of the student population? The cadet corps was set up to encourage students to enlist for preparation into the armed forces upon completion of their education. If you check records, you'll discover that most of the students enlisted into the officer training academies are usually not students who were part of the cadet corps. I see no use of a cadet corps when those who are cadet corps members, if accepted into the military academies, have to undergo the same training as those who were had not participated in the cadet corps. If you really want to have a level playing field, then teach a military and Police science course to all high school students without the need for any military drills. If you can't demonstrate that many cadet corps participants end up being accepted into military academies, then the cost of the cadet corps is a waste.
