This order to close businesses, including banks must be challenged in court. The authority to declare emergencies, public holidays, and sectional businesses lies with the Interior Minister in consultation with National Security. Traditional rulers do not have the authority to do so. Today it is in the Ashanti Region, tomorrow and tomorrow next will be other regions and traditional rulers. Government should reign in this quasi rule making from chiefs in national interest and governance.

This directive is totally unnecessary and nonsensical. Should the hospitals be also closed? What about Banks and Fuel Filling Stations? Let us try to become matured and civilized. Then, they should stupidly direct that the Fire Service and Electricity Companies should not work. These are a bunch of useless people calling themselves Traditional Authorities. Let the Asantehene and his people who got their education in Canada, Western countries explain if that stupid directions are given in the Western World. Such a directive shows how some of our Traditional Leaders are uncivilized . Should the Police, Army, the Fire Service and Ambulances not also work? Some of even our Traditional Authorities are very far away from Civilization and Common Sense.. Will Vehicles, the Water and Fire Service work? When shall some of our people become civilized and grow up. The Government should not let this idiocy into such stupid directions and nonsense.Could the supposed leaders have directed such nonsense at the time of Efo Jeremiah John Rawlings and Kwame Nkrumah?

Me my biggest issue with this directive is the fact, that there is an ongoing WASSCE and on Thursday there are papers to be written. They have Physics Practicals, Clothing and Textiles, so what happens to DAY STUDENTS and INVIGILATORS who have to commute to their various schools and other examinations centres to write their papers especially those in Kumasi and its environs? And so far since the dates foe the funeral was announced during the one week observation GES, MOE AND WEAC have not given any guidelines for how the affected WASSCE candidates would be treated. This is a nationwide exams, therefore cannot be postponed for a specific area.
Again the funeral planning didn't factor that into it? Atleast the closure if businesses and schools should start from around 5pm and the route and its immediate surrounding for the body moving from Manhyia to Bantama can be cordoned.

This is not a problem at all. Let them choose one. The funeral or their exams, which will in the long run, define their future. They shouldn't postpone the exams, not at all.

Everybody is doing as they see fit in Ghana. We have a lot to learn from countries like Singapore, a country made up of people from different races, different cultures, different religions and different languages yet with a very strong national identity. The citizens of this very progressive state for the most part regard themselves first and foremost as Singaporean and not as Chinese,Indian,Malay or Eurasians. The ethnic, racial and religious harmony is a major part of the reason why Singapore has made such tremendous progress economically in spite of it's tiny size ( It is actually a City State rather than a full blow country)

Why should the economic wheel of a commercial hub like the Kumasi metropolis be grounded over the burial of a native . This will not happen in any developed country. If the dead is to be honored, at least all flags in the metropolitan region should be lowered at half mast . But to declare a holiday to mourn a dead person does not make economic sense. Can one estimate the financial loss to the metropolitan area if all commercial activities are halted? Is the country under a chieftaincy rule or democratic rule? As a developing nation, there is the need to reconsider our approach to some of the traditional and cultural issues that encroach on national development.
