TAXPAYERS FOOT ALL BILLS OF THE PRESIDENCY
AND THE TAXPAYERS ARE IN THE SOUTH
The fee free compulsory education of the CPP government of Kwame Nkrumah paid the school children from the North and paid their fees and also paid their parents from the North.
So, the President from the North is obliged to pay homage to the South that provides the taxpayers money.

And we have to import food from Burkina Faso.

@Kwesi. You forgot to mention the Minister for Chieftaincy Affairs. He could as well represent the Government and the people of Ghana at the funeral. This falls under his ministry.

@Joshua. Back in the days Kwame Nkrumah even thought of abolishing the Chieftaincy institution and replace them with elected mayors who can be dismissed if they are not performing well. Chiefs can not be dismissed so easily. Hence, his statement "there will come a time when chiefs will leave their sandals behind and run away from the country". Such were some of the visions of Kwame Nkrumah in building a modern Ghana. Today, chiefs have the audacity to order the President.

@Kofi. Ofui. Your Kwame Nkrumah rather ran away and left his sandals behind. The chiefs are the owners/custodians of lands in Ghana and no one can sideline them. Kwasea you want chiefs to be sidelined for undeserving, unintelligent people from some low class places to lord themselves over dignified people in the name of politics? Odwan, Mahama John can refuse to personally attend the funeral and nothing will happen to him or Asanteman. You low-lifers should stop your fuulishness. Mmoa.

President John Dramani Mahama has lauded Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his unwavering dedication to good governance, justice, and social accountability, describing him as a powerful moral compass in moments when the country’s leadership has been tested.
Speaking during a courtesy call by the Otumfuo at the Jubilee House on Monday, June 2, President Mahama said the Asantehene’s bold interventions during times of institutional failure have not gone unnoticed.
“Your Majesty, your commitment to good governance, justice and social accountability is well known. You’ve spoken boldly and wisely in times when our institutions have faulted and when the moral fibre of leadership has been tested. Your courage has not gone unnoticed,” President Mahama remarked.
He emphasised the Asantehene’s impact beyond traditional leadership, noting his ongoing investments in education, health, economic empowerment, and culture through the Otumfuo Educational Foundation.
“These efforts are not in vain. They are building human capital and renewing faith in our traditional authorities, not as a resistance to modernity but as a foundation for development,” he said.
President Mahama also expressed hope for continued collaboration as his government pursues economic revitalisation, job creation under the 24-hour economy initiative, and equitable resource distribution.
“We will rely on your wise counsel and the grassroots reach of your traditional authority,” he stated.
He further acknowledged the role of chieftaincy in democratic progress.
“You have shown that traditional leadership is not only compatible with democratic progress but it is indispensable to it,” President Mahama said, adding that the visit by Otumfuo and his delegation was not merely symbolic but a signal of deep commitment to partnership, peace, and progress.
