  Waste of money and human Resources. What does a PhD in nursing lead one too. What Ghana needs is to invest in quality teaching of the young nurses some of whom can neither read nor narrate what they have learnt to the patients, There are nurses in the WaleWale Hospital who are on their practicals right now but have no chief nurse or physician to guide them. The basic problem in Ghana is that we are more interested in training PhD nurses who will never return to Ghana because they will be over qualified for the countries need. Mr. Akantoh does not seem to have any idea about what is needed to upgrade the health care system in Ghana. Call around you have a lot of well trained and world renowned medical personnel who are Ghanaian in the diaspora who will be willing to assist in setting up a health care teaching scheme that will upgrade Ghanaian medicine rather chasing PhD's in a field that does not need 'booklongs'. Let Ghana stick to the basics unless there are some protocol candidates already lined up for your PhD project. Let's wake up Ghana's potential. We have nothing to show that after almost sixty years of ruling ourselves we are still sending people to other countries to study nursing!WHY?. YEN
