Appointments to key offices such as the IGP and the Special Prosecutor too should not rest solely with the Head of State. Likewise, the Chief Justice must never be allowed to act outside the bounds of impartiality, as we saw with Justice Torkornoo. It is widely recognised that she supported President Akufo-Addo in attempts to delay or derail the LGBT bill. Any constitutional amendments must therefore include provisions to prevent such abuses of power and ensure true independence of these critical institutions.

Are they saying that even if a chief justice’s misconducted himself or herself in the office, no one can remove him or her?

That's exactly what, idiotic, moronic, illiterate and hypocritical fools in Ghana are saying. And when you reflect over such grossly misrepresentations of the Constitution, you come close to the understanding of why Ghana reeks of robbers and thieves in all administrative positions, and that makes you want to weep.
These fools can't fault just one thing within the petitions and processes that saw the arrogant and undisciplined CJ sent away. They say the malfeasance referred to weren't convincing enough, yet this lady jailed cassava and plantain thieves and hurt people, using her office as tool against perceived enemies. What a joke!

Those calling for constitutional review so that the president would not have a hand in appointing and disappointing a CJ, are not thinking deep. Imagine a CJ that is up in arms against the president – that's a disaster. It is the president who has been voted by the people to oversee the progress and development of the country and to allow the CJ to be an obstacle in his path would be unfair. After all, the opposition inside and outside of parliament is there to subject the president to the necessary checks.
There is really no reason for a president to be interested in dismissing a CJ if the president trusts the CJ. With respect to Madam Gertrude Torkornoo, there's every reason for the NDC government to be suspicious of her looking at how she conducted herself doing all the bidding for the NPP when the NPP waa in government.
When a CJ is fair to the opposition, there will be no reason why the opposition should distrust him/her when they come into government. This was why former president Mills didn't see it necessary to dismiss CJ Theodora Wood even though she had been appointed by the previous NPP government of former president John Kufuour.

Kwaku Azar started the petitions. He had no conversations with Mahama when he did. He even sent the petitions to hammerhead Akufo-Addo who declined to pronounce on it.
But before Azar, a lot of citizens saw the foibles and erratic conduct and extreme arrogance of the CJ. Azar is just a citizen like us all, and all others who followed with their petitions want a refined, thing-oriented judiciary that would fire us through exemplary justice that reflects upon good governance and good citizenry required of a civilized state.
If we can't touch judges who commit crime in office, why should anyone get judged if they go afoul of the law? Nothing just makes sense in Ghana. We should eat out cakes and still have them, and when we suffer, we blame everyone else except ourselves forgetting we were at the front blocking way to justice for all.

The absence of the GBA resulted in the many shortcomings in the 1992 Constitution.
Hopefully the new Constitution Review Committee shall do the needful to meet expectations.

You are guys are jokers. Look at the posture of the chief justice and the way she twisted issues in her politicians' favour, how can you live a democracy with such a person.

Leave the provisions as they are. No fair-minded person should support any amendments. Presidents will serve and leave office with all public officers appointed during his term. Period.
