They are still destroying our Rivers, forest, farms, land etc. Government must stay focus if we really want to stop this menace. Am not surprised the Chinese Ambassador has doubt about the capacity of the country to win this fight

To win the war on galamsey, the government should:
1. Set up a Galamsey Tip Hotline so that members of the public can call in to disclose the location of a galamsey operation; and also to disclose the identities of the of owners of galamsey operations. Those provide credible information should be given a monetary reward and their identities kept secret for their safety.
2. The government must stop deporting foreign galamsey criminals without trial and instead prosecute them criminally and, if found guilty, make them spend all the years of their sentences in Ghana prisons. Once their sentences have been served, then the government can deport them.
3. The government should seriously consider seizing the assets of galamsey operators and using the proceeds to help with land reclamation and treatment of polluted rivers.
4. When confronting galamsey operation sites, the government should send in a large number of Police and military personnel to avoid any chance of galamsey making an attempt to attack government agents.
5. The government has to employ the use of drones and helicopters across the country on a regular basis to scout for any galamsey activities.
6. The galamsey labourers should be assisted in their efforts to find meaningful employment or directed to services that can assist them enroll in school or skills trade training.
7. The government has to set a time-line within which it can seriously claim to have eliminated the bulk of galamsey operations around the country, and the fight should be relentless and carried on till the last galamsey operation has been put out of business.
7. The Galamsey Task Force should also work with chiefs and land owners to determine who bought the lands that were being used for galamsey, and those buyers can then be pursued and brought to justice and forced to help with clean up of the galamsey sites.
8. A law should be passed making it illegal to use land for galamsey, and that should make it easy for the government to seize lands that are being used for that purpose.
Galamsey is a an old headache plaquing many communities across Ghana, but the fight against galamsey can be won, provided the government draws a plan on how to go about fighting it instead of making random raids on galamsey sites to seize excavators.

Turn all river banks in Ghana into military training grounds. Why should it always be Achiase and Bundase? That is one way training. No varied terrain

Show them no mercy until they disclose the identity of the true owners of the galamsey operation so that the government can go after those owners and seize their assets while having them prosecuted.
