Jesus Christ loves you and wants to save you from sin and its consequences. Vanity upon vanity—everything in this world is meaningless without Him. He died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. Believe in Him, accept His gift of forgiveness, and receive eternal life! (John 3:16).jbf

Kwasiaman. After this charade removal of the CJ, you want to safeguard whoever your party appoints as the CJ by removing the authority from the president. Even if it takes a hundred years, NDC cannot be in power forever. The pandorax box has been opened. The precedent has been set. The bar has been lowered very much so that every CJ can easily be removed now.

Respectfully Mr kpebu, in as much as I share your sentiments and also understand that you as a lawyer and u wish that the judiciary be fully autonomous, we must situate things in our country. We have a long way to go as far as our democracy is concerned and most of the envious democracies it took them years for them to build systems . We need time kpebu, our understanding of democracy is very very poor for now. It’s mostly tribal, hate, religion etc. one person has to have some extra power to steer us towards building strong institutions and systems first

Removing the power of appointment is not the issue. We do not respect the independence of institutions in Ghana. Our constitution is a joke. The reason for the removal of the CJ is laughable. In the US the President appoints the CJ but the Judiciary is independent and I have not heard any president attempt to remove the CJ. Even though the president appoints the judges, he or she does not have an easier way to remove them. it requires a 2/3 majority in the house and senate to remove a judge who can keep their jobs for life. I think the power to appoint should still be with the President but the removals should be made more difficult to prevent what just happened to the Justice Torkonoo to occur again.
